I think you forgot one step for this to work: root.

Thank You, I was wondering why I couldn't find it in the Market.

How can you tell if it's still free? At what point will it warn you there's a charge for this service?

Yea, mine says its still free for a limited time, too, even though I signed up for the $30/unlimited plan and am supposed to be in the prorated period. Chalking it up to sloppy execution on Verizon's part, not complaining, though.

When I turned on my hotspot widget yesterday morning, nothing happened so I went into the wireless settings. I turned it on from there, and I got a popup saying that the hotspot is free for a limited time and that I would have to eventually select a plan. It worked all day yesterday, and it is still working for me today. I haven't signed up for anything yet.

Mine still working fine today.:)
I'm not sure what the point is of all these "mine is still working" posts. The writing is on the wall that the free MHS/MBBC will vanish soon. I thought about waiting, but my contract is up in 11 days. So, lessee... at $30/mo that's $1.00/day. Might cost me $11.00 extra at most (prorated). Probably $1-2 depending on when they cut it off. So what? It's really not a big deal if it keeps working for a few more days. I want to feel that warm fuzzy of being "locked it". :)

I've noticed that some folks have mentioned that they did not see a MHS/MBBC choice on their MyVerizon account. I'm guessing that it may not appear until your free trial is cut off. Not sure. The rep told me "just so you know, you can use MyVerizon to change this yourself". I don't know if that meant for initial signup or just after a voice CS initial sighnup.

On another note, I wouldn't be hugely surprised if the other handsets (i.e. Revolution/Charge) might go on a little longer than the TBolt. Us TBolt users have already had 4 free months. To me that's a big deal because when I purchased the TBolt I was able to cancel my previous $30/mo tethering plan (VZAccess) I had with my other phone. So I've already saved $120. I'm very happy with VZW's decisions on this so far.

The only point is that per Verizon the free trial was suppose to end yesterday (7/7). Some of us still have the free trial without being asked to select a plan.

Perhaps if you accept the OS update that starts rolling out tonight it will disable the free hotspot. Supposedly, the update includes an "official" version of MyVerizon for the TBolt (finally) which would seem to go hand in glove with reports you can add the wifi hotspot to your account via that app.
