Free hotspot is dead, long live free hotspot

Perhaps if you accept the OS update that starts rolling out tonight it will disable the free hotspot. Supposedly, the update includes an "official" version of MyVerizon for the TBolt (finally) which would seem to go hand in glove with reports you can add the wifi hotspot to your account via that app.

I was thinking the same thing until someone pointed out that some people are no longer getting it free even without the MR2 update.

Got the update. Not really impressed. I still think that this update was more about the hotspot sharing thing than actually helping the customer. I would be willing to bet that they couldn't shut off the free hotspot feature on every phone...so they gave us an update.

I'm an actual customer and I have been helped tremendously because I can now keep a solid data signal locked on. There are plenty of others who are tickled that they no longer have spontaneous reboots. And you say the update was not to help customers? Don't know where you get that. Sounds like Negative Nancy crap to me.

steps to achieve free tether,. 1 turn on airplane mode then activate wifi. 2 go to the market. 3 search for wireless tether 4. download and enjoy. ( phone must be on wifi to see in market )
I can't find the "root" thing for my thunderbolt

I did notice it seemed to put a lot of vcast apps that I don't want and can't remove

even after the updat?. I still have free hotspot but have not updated yet. I have only had one reboot since I bought the phone at the end of April.
I have not updated , I have no issues. I know it will be forced soon.

How do I get my phone (thunderbolt) "rooted"?
RTFM much? Two weeks ago I did not know a thing about rooting my phone. I kept reading these very helpful forums till I gained some confidence. Now I am sporting gingerbread with Sence 3.0. :)
