So after all it may not be the lte outage/sim frying going on but vzw violating the spectrum rules on blocking apps.

Matt Wood, a Free Press attorney, says that the Verizon move may have violated a federal requirement forcing Verizon not to "deny, limit, or restrict the ability of their customers to use the devices and applications of their choice” on its network. The Federal Communications Commission attached the rule to spectrum licenses that Verizon bought in the so-called C block of spectrum three years ago.

Oh no. Oh no no no no. I hope this isn't true. That could cause indefinite delays. If this is the cause, I'm buying the GSM version.

That never would've crossed my mind. Great find, now the bickering can actually have a point instead of speculative theories.

Was just gonna post but its a great read and makes it possible for the delay but fix could be just as simple as automatically install it?
But then again they have to also deal with Isis so it doesn't break their contract? Man could be a longer delay eh? Maybe not? I hope not

Yeah, that is a big deal. Great find, but bad news.

Sucks for us waiting patiently on this device, but overall, it's great for our freedom of choice as customers and the ability of us being able to decide what WE want on our phones, not the carriers.

If VZW getting slapped for breaking Net Neutrality is the cause of the GNex delays, at least it's for a good reason.

Step 1 determine reason for delay...check. Step 2 decide between Razr or Rezound.

Like mentioned if this is the reason for the delay we could be in for a long wait.

I think it's time to get our heads in a place where we are ready not to have this phone in 2011.

say if this is the case. If all the forums was quite about the phone not having Google wallet and no one complained would Verizon release it then?
It seems like everytime some forums/website post about a problem with this phone it never fails that it gets hold/delay again after that.

Maybe Verizon will stop acting like the big on campus. They might just get themselves strongarmed for their bs.

I'm glad VZW is getting shiat for this. I don't mind if the GN gets delayed because of this because quite frankly VZW following the rules is better for everyone in the long run.

Seems like a pretty big leap to conclude that this would be the reason for the delay. First, the article doesn't say anything about the delay, whatsoever. All it says is that Free Press (a consumer protection organization) is commenting that the Google Wallet block could be a violation of those rules. I highly doubt that this kind of statement from them would be enough to put a major product launch on hold.

First, the FCC would have to go through some kind of formal process and agree or disagree with such a complaint. Then if they agree, maybe they make some kind of order preventing Verizon from selling the compromised devices. But even then, Verizon would likely be able to appeal and continue selling while that happens.

It's just a big big stretch from this article to "this is the reason for the delay."

This is true. I assume it would work like a patent case where sales could be blocked if Verizon were found guilty after a formal investigation. However, if Verizon has been threatened with legal action by the FCC, they might have pulled the device with the intention of installing Google Wallet if they thought they would lose and face a fine.
