Free websiTexas password prompts

Some wifi locatons requireso a login password they freely give. My galaxy tab A, doesn't open their Web page to login, connect to the site. Is there a setting change to ensure their page displays for the login? Thanks jwd

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Apps​, tap Menu>Show System, and make sure CaptivePortalLogin isn't Disabled.

One trick I found is to go to an unsecured website like www.weather.com that does not use encryption (http instead of https). It seems going to a secured website trips up the captive portal function (at least on Chrome) because the redirect attempt is seen as malicious activity.
