From BB to Incredible (Have issues, need help, advice)

In all fairness though the Android lags too and i find myself lagging too much and that does kinda become a pain especially with such a fast processor. The phone is still new but so far with about 12 hours of use it has slowed up a couple times. A battery pull on the blackberry is not really that big of a deal. With my bold I only do it once a week if at all and my phone runs very smooth. Blackberry just hasn't given the fun factor in their OS but productivity is still grade A and you can not deny that. They just haven't introduced something eye catching where as Android has done a great job of trying to be fun and productive all in the same OS....

on my curve 8330's I bought Quickpull and was doing that twice a day.

I charged my phone last night when I got it and played with it for about an hour. Then turned it off and went to bed. It's been on since 6am and now at 930 it just turned orange. about 30 minutes in phone calls and heavy web/app usage.

I just installed Advanced Task Killer. I know Android manages the running apps but as mentioned by someone posting on another thread, this phone is so powerful that it will rarely ever have to close an app to free up memory, thereby leaving all of the apps open in the background which will kill the battery faster. Also turned my screen brightness down since I'm inside. Hopefully this will help.

Verizon offers Backup Assitant, which you may want to use.

Can you please explain how to get Backup Assistant on a Blackberry Curve 8330. The FAQ at verizon says to open "get it now" or "media center," and I don't seem to have either.

Thanks!

Incorrect.......an app in suspended state in the background will have VERY little effect on battery life!

The switch has gone....ok.... Moved all my contacts and calendar, with multiple duplicates (yes, redundant), no way to move tasks, memos or password keeper (bummer).
I do miss BBM, the native text app on the DrInc is not too friendly, hate the extra steps. I also do not like the two step turn on, press top button the swipe. Gotta be fixes for some of these things. What have you guys found?
Will I go back to BB? Aw Hell naw. But it will take to time to assimilate into the Android borg, and thats what we're here for, is to help each other assimilate.

Im not sure that it is an option on the 8330. It was just recently added to the tour, storm1/2. So It might be a 5.0 only thing.

you can't used BA on the curve 8330.
Not released for it.
Misty I am guessing yo don't have a gmail acct cause if you do, just download google sync to the berry.
Make sure under options that your default mical? is set to the main gmail address you use for both calendar and contacts.

Greetings, I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue, Ever since the batter died, I am unable to turn on my phone. I called tech support, they sent me to a store, they said it was broke and set me all the way across town. Well I got there, and they got the phone to turn on. Ever since then I went back up and put it on the charger, it still has yet to turn on again. They will not replace it because they got it to turn on after the other store said it was broken. This is a first for them as they repeatedly told me. My question is, why the hell would I buy the phone, and on the first day want a brand new one again if it wasn't broken? I'm about to just return it and go back to my crappy storm.

I agree with the guy about the broken charger. but seeing as you JUST got the new phone, you should be within that window to return it. I say that because it works out in your favor if you do the classic, "Thanks but no thanks. i'm switching networks"

If you call in and explain the issue, then firmly tell express that you want to leave Verizon for someone else, they tend to be more flexible (esp. if there are no termination fees they can reap from it)

It still uses some resources though, doesn't it? What about an app like Twidroid that will be fetching new tweets and stuff. Sorry, I'm coming from a BB so I'm not as familiar with how the multitasking works here.

leavin crackberry and need advrce

Thank you for showin me the light lol I jus got my inc and I mant to set it up right is here an easy way posted here. Can I jus transfer over my memory card , does that have my contacts on it and on the inc am I able to delete muktiple pics my sdcard is loaded with crap what's the easiest way to get rid of the crap

You could load 5.0 Hybrid on your 8330 but at that rate the effort might not be worth it. 5.0 on my 8330 was awesome but the new phone is way better. So nice to have a processor that can keep up with the apps.

but that includes removing the vendor.xml file which may be needed to install the BA?

The easiest way is to put your sd card in your droid and reformat the card. That will get rid of everything. If you want to be selective, put your sd card in and connect it to a pc. navigate to the sd card and then delete what you want from the pc.

Your contacts should not be on your sd card. If your BB is still active, install google sync. That will load up all of your contacts to your google account which will in turn sync them to your inc.

Yeah, all searches I've done have pretty much turned up that fact. I do have several gmail accounts.:p I did just download the google sync. I did the first sync on it, and it looks okay so far. I haven't yet figured out how I'll get that info into my incredible when it gets here.

Incredible is at my local fedex office now...seriously considering driving over and getting it.

Android Memory question

Hi All, Apologies if this is more general to android vs just the incredible.

1) I'm used to the BB memory structure, so given the specific memory of the Incredible for programs, is there a specific limitation to how many programs I can download and keep on my Incredible?. Can I have 10 games and all my other apps on the phone (not running at the same time of course), or is the 700mb the actual limit of space I can install programs?

2) Anyone know if live wallpapers (I know, it's just eyecandy) consume considerably more battery power?

Thanks in advance and appologies for the general android memory question.

1. Yes, 700MB is the limit for installing apps. However, it is my understanding that the Android Market remembers the apps you install from them. So you can keep the handful of apps you regularly use installed all the time, and when you feel nostaligic for Tetris, reload the app from the Market. On the other hand, if you download apps from non-market sources (apk files?), you can store them on the SD card and use your app installer when you want to play them.

2. Not sure if it is considerable or not, but the live wallpapers will eat your battery faster as the cpu is always going for the most part. Especially if you use the Google Map wallpaper which is using GPS and the Internet.
