Gotta call you on this one.
Android is NOT Java based. It is a riff on Linux (currently using kernel 2.6.29), and is written in C compiled to ARM native machine code. While you can write apps in Java (using Goole's managed code libraries) the OS itself is not Java.
My bad, I was misinformed then. Good to know! I gotta say I love my HTC Incredible.
Things I miss from my Storm2 are:
- Lack of copy/paste functionality on native mail clients;
- No native Exchange Tasks support;
- No support for magnet/holster mode;
- No native current apps switcher (installed Task Tray);
- Battery life (My Storm2 would last me through the day with moderate usage, my Incredible does not);
- SocialScope (yes I know FriendStream does the same thing but it's not as good);
- PodTrapper (I have DoggCatcher on my Incredible which doesn't feel as polished or maybe I'm just not used to DoggCatcher's GUI yet)
- BeejiveIM (is there a multi-IM app as good as BeejiveIM on the Android platform? I haven't found one yet...)
- Notifications (Sometimes Skype will notify me of a new message 30 minutes too late... very annoying. The Storm2 never had notification latency issues);
- No way to sort your apps into folders (using App Organizer to compensate but native integration would be best)
- Mango (Is there anything as good as the Mango BlackBerry app on Android? I tried Manga browser but I'm not impressed due to lack of pinch to zoom functionality).
Long list but other than the lack of magnet/holster mode which can drive me nuts at times, I have had a very positive experience so far. I'm sure most of the shortcomings I came across will/can be resolved through apps and/or new Android updates (can't wait to see what Froyo will bring to the table).
