from sprint to straighttalk on used sph l710

can i use my sprint galaxy s4 on straight talk and what do i need to do

Can everyone on this forum please pass along that NAM programming (flashing/programming a CDMA phone) has very little to do with ROM/software flashing.
NAM programming is putting the phone in DIAG (diagnostic) mode and using QPST/CDMA Workshop/etc to reprogram the phone. It is not effecting the ROM and vice versa. Data settings for streaming and such are the only things effected by flashing roms over a flashed phone.

Rooting phones and flashing Roms does not unlock them for other carriers. On some gsm htc models you can unlock by attaining S-off in the bootloader.

I really think this forum needs to stop discussing flashing phones and stick to software mods. You people are confusing each other on a daily basis and half the people are sharing total misinformation..

again SIM card slot in most CDMA phones is only for 4G authentification AND NOT GSM SERVICE.

FLASHING = NAM Programming - not affected by rom/root/etc(although switching roms and unlocking bootloaders can be beneficial in accomplishing a phone flash and can be preprogrammed with specific scripts ran for other carriers' asthetics)

FLASHING A ROM = writing files to the phones internal partitions to change the software...it doesn not effect the NAM programming.

Also to the people saying it's stupid to switch carriers...it must be nice to have unlimited resources to pay sprint and other major companies for your flawless service....I have worked on many phone services and phones, flashed and not flashed, rooted and modified phones and have never cared for this type of bigotry. All the "fly-by-night" prepaid services are owned by the major campanies and run the same infrastructure. Flashing a phone to cricket or pageplus or metro can be awesome and quality of service on all networks depends on quality of phone and location. Hence why it is better to take your sprint phone to cricket/metro/PP/straight talk than to use their phones. if anyone has questions again. message me. i'm not really into posting out here in the forums because people are really not into reading and will just bog you down with misinformation and argumentitive nonsense much like the people hollering that Sprint told them you cant move to another network or saying service are bad on companies they have never experienced(or havent in years)

I really want people to stop answering questions without researching your answers

yes you can. start here
Sprint /Verizon/USCC S3/S4/S5 Note 2/Note 3 … | Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III | XDA Forums

anyone else in this forum asking, you need to get a better understanding of what flashing a phone actually is. Look at that post and maybe poke around cricketusers forum. Chris over there has put together many tutorials. The process will be the same just using ST or another carriers settings during the process instead of Crickets (RIP cricket flashed phones eta 03/2015)

anyone trying to get in touch with me click on my screenname and send private message. I'm not the greatest at typing instructions but will try to help when i check my messages on here. or email me at dmays@helpyouwiththat.com

I think Sarah is asking if she can flash to Boost Mobile.
Boost is wholly owned by Sprint and AFAICT Sprint will not allow BYOSD on Boost or Virgin.

True. Thanks... yeah no sprint to boost if esn is bad. same with verizon and page plus. The latter companies mentioned are subsidiaries of the former.

I went to Metro PCS to inquire about bringing my Galaxy S3 from sprint to their network and the guy told us that Metro PCS couldn't use our phones. Was he full of crap and just trying to sell us new phones?

No Sim card and nobody is building a CDMA network.
You need to find a MVNO that will let you bring your Sprint phone (s)

sprint note 3 can only be internationally unlocked by sprint. Once they do that there is also a process to domestically unlock

Metro pcs is GSM so your sprint s4 which is cdma will not work. There was an unlock for older android versions...i think 4.2 and down for the sprint s4. you'll need to check your android version

Yes I saw your post and I have a sprint prepaid s3 without the sim card that I want to move over to verizon prepaid. I know it can be done and sprint gave me the 6digit #for my phone. Verizon told me to go to a third party phone dealer and get my phone flashed and it would then work. Is this correct? This is a brand new phone and I would like to keep it. Is flashing something I can do myself? Thanks in advance. CB

And did everything work? I'm curious about activating my sprint note 2 for my son on straight talk.

The Sprint version of the Note 2 easily transfers over to Straight Talk. My son took the one he bought directly to Walmart and the lady in Electronics did everything for him. He just had to buy a new CDMA activaction kit for $59 (includes a $45 card). It works great on Straight Talk!
