From Windows to Android..a love story

Hello everyone. I am brand new to the android forums here! I have been a frequent poster to windows phone central, and i am a former windows phone lover. I was married to my windows phone. I loved everything about it. I used to own an android phone, a G2 on t-mobile, and an EVO before that. I liked it, but it was slow, battery life was horrific, and it crashed all the time. I began to think all android phones would forever be like this, so i made the switch to windows. And it was a fast, smooth experince that i loved. Until i was introduced to the Galaxy Note 2. It was at this point that I had NO IDEAD android had come so far. I was amazed by how fast and smooth the experience was, and how much better the battery was. I was impressed. He showed me everything I couldnt do on the windows phone, and how much more awesome android really is. And now I have the Galaxy S4. Best choice I have ever made. =) So i say hello to all my fellow and former friends of android. It feels good to be home. =)

So far, I am loving this phone. It has already far exceeded my expectaions. The battery lasts all day with moderate usage. It is fast, smooth, and the super amoled screen is stunning. Vibrant colors. It is so wonderful. This phone is fantastic. That being said, the learning curve has been OK at best. I wouldn't say difficult, but i wouldnt say easy. A lot has changed and a lot has improved. I am still learning. Just yesterday i learned you could customize the background to your texts. I thought that was cool. It took some time to get used to the keyboard again but im good now, and swiping away like im slicing through butter. lol. Each day the learning curve gets easier and easier. Im just glad i am back to my old roots. Having the overflow abundance of apps and customization is wonderfull...an experience i missed on the windows phone.

Hope you are enjoying your new device. If you want to take custom to a whole new breed of awesome, try downloading a new launcher. A launcher is a different User Interface, and there are lots of free ones on Play, and you don't have to be rooted to install. I love Nova, you can customize color themes, scrolling animation and speed, grid layout in the app drawer and home screens, number of icons in the dock and how many pages, etc...

That sounds fantastic. I will have to try that out. I vaguely remember that on my old evo and G2, but it was so slow and sluggish i just canned it. Looking forward to retry it wth the S4. Im just glad i saw the light now, rather than later. If anything...check out QBKing77 on YouTube. His carrier is Sprint, but a lot of things he does like rooting, tip and tricks, are pretty universal, and if looked at basically, can be good rules of thumb.

If anything...check out QBKing77 on YouTube. His carrier is Sprint, but a lot of things he does like rooting, tip and tricks, are pretty universal, and if looked at basically, can be good rules of thumb.

He does a lot of videos with the Galaxy series. The S4 and the HTC One are his newest additions. It was his videos that taught me some of the basics of hot to root devices and flash ROMs.

I just hope Sprint comes up with the GS4 with 32GB. Otherwise the HTC One looks like the better deal with 32GB and cheaper price.

16GB aren't enough if you can't move apps to the SD card.

I use att and the fastest LTE speeds I have got so far was about 45MBPS

I ended up buying the Galaxy S4, and I wish I had half that speed every day on Sprint.

But I did definitely stepped up from the speeds I used to get with WiMax! The fastest I've been able to get around here with LTE with Sprint is 18Mbps.
For the price I pay on Sprint I think is a good trade.
