Front cameras picture quality

Does anyone else think the front cameras take awful pictures? My pics consistently come out grainy and blurry.. I just got this phone a couple days ago so I wanted to make sure it wasn't just mine. I am coming from the G4, so I understand it won't be as good due to the mp difference.. however they should be running similar software, (if not the V10's should be better).
Are there any ways to tweak them into taking better pics?

Yes.. I hate it.. My G4 took way better front facing pics. But I still love the phone.

Better lighting will usually help get rid of noise in the photo.

This must be true all my front facing photos come out awesome. But typically I'm not in the dark when I take a selfie. Used the wide lens for a group selfie at a playoff party and it came out super clear!

In low light the auto mode of the front camera will crank up the ISO, which is why you get grainy photos. The higher the ISO, the more grain you will see.

I've only used the wide angle front camera and mine came out clear as well. I will have to try the standard one and see now.

Yeah the front cameras on my phone are almost unusable in any kind of low-light, which is how I take most of my group shots (inside the house, or restaurants/outings). All the photos kept coming out grainy or so blurry the people in it were unrecognizable. Then someone pulled out an iPhone 6+ and took the group photos, which is sad because I know the G4 was on par with the 6+ (and usually even better).
So, if this is just how the cameras operate, then I think I have to return this phone. I use the front camera probably more than anything and while I love the phone itself, that is a deal breaker for me. I like the width of the phone and the second screen is nice, but they don't outweigh the unnecessary two front cameras. I just want ONE that works! Such a shame when the rest of the phone is amazing. :(

Here's one of mine from the front facing camera from the day I got it.. After this, they've been hit or miss.. I guess it is low-light that causes it to come out bad.

That's a great picture. :) None of mine have been that clear but yours is also taken outside during the day.

Thanks a lot.. That's my super hot wife. lol

Try taking some outside during the day and see what you get... I'm a little dissatisfied with how it turns out in low-lighting even when I use the flash feature, but this phone is just too amazing for that to me a deal breaker for me, personally. But to each his own...

Yup, that is indeed an amazing pic! Thank you for sharing!
Seems like as long as one takes pictures during the day with good lighting, they will pretty solid.

Thanks..

Maybe there should be a post where people share their selfie camera pics.. to compare, contrast, and laugh?

That would be great information! I wish I would have had that info before I purchased the phone.. So maybe others in the market would benefit from it as well. :)
