Froyo ETA Set

Is this a waiting room for Froyo? I am starting to get nervous...but I do remember Verizon always being super critical of new releases of software so i guess it si best to be patient.

It is now. Thanks for the thread title idea :)

LOL Cory! U r on it dude! Mods FTW!!!!

Anyways, I am trying to be patient but some of the bugs that 2.2 are supposed to fix are really starting to annoy me. I totally love the phone and woudl not trade it for anything else but it would be nice to see some of these fixes come to light.

I have it on good authority that FroYo will be released tomorrow. In the event that it doesn't release tomorrow, don't panic! Simply reread this post every day until it's right.

Edit: Hey, I got front page love! Thanks, Phil!

i sure hope the wait is worth it

I realized something in this whole process. I'd say 3 out of 4 Droid X owners don't even know what Froyo is, or that there is a planned update for their phone. Those same 3 people don't care either.

For those of us who DO know what it is and what benefits it brings, it will be worth the wait. It's just not some massive change like some people drag it out to be. Sure it fixes a lot of what should have already been, but when you take out bug fixes from this update and only look at what FROYO by GOOGLE brings to the phone, the bullet list is pretty small. Most of it you won't even see or notice. So for us Droid X owners Froyo is a great update. But is it because Froyo is that much better? No.

Froyo for most people won't even be noticed. As I and others have said, it is really not that big of a deal at all. Flash comes with it but you will see that it's pretty useless. It's a bit faster but the X is already fast. The changes are so small that 9 out 10 won't know the difference.

Froyo txt from VZW

So I just open my phone and see a txt from 900-070-002834 that says your droid was sent the android 2.2 software update including adobe flash 10.1????? However phone still shows 2.1 update 1? Check for update...nothing... I'm wondering if this is a delayed text for my old phone the D1? However I received that update a long time ago. I've now had the DX for over a week now.

Today i am not able check for updates. Says that the system is unavailable to check back later. Could this be the precursor to froyo coming?

You'll notice a speed difference when flipping through home screens and menus.

I think more people know about Froyo than you think. I have a friend with a DX and he's not the type to read message boards but he's anxiously awaiting Froyo.

They're actively talking about it every time you speak to a Verizon rep. As if any problem you have on your phone will be magically fixed by FroYo. That's how they are operating right now. So I think many people are hearing it from Verizon as this cure-all.

just seen a post on droid life about X and froyo something that might brighten your day up

So I checked out the link on this leaked doc. Takes you right to vzw.com complete with 2 pdf's telling about the update and how to install it, though it has definately not been push do my x yet and it tells me that no update is nessicary at this time. Software Update: DROID X by Motorola

Check check check it out...

Call VZW and ask them about the text??

But I bet it was left over from you D1 or someone spoofing you. If Froyo has dropped for the X, it will be all over the websites.

If you look carefully at the photograph in the 2 download instruction pdfs on the supposed Verizon website, you will see it refers to Update (1.13.604.en.US) ... Looks either very old or very phony.

It's not phony. It's old. That's the documentation for the first 2.1 update. Neither of those pdfs have anything to do with Froyo.
