Froyo ETA Set

you know i think that i'm really the most upset about is that motorola deamed that theDroid X is going to reach the end of life in March and this information was released as awaited for close to a month for my X to even be delivered
and then on top of that it was said that the X was going to have Froyo by end of summer
and with people having to keep a 2 yr contract ,we are stuck with a device that isn't living up to the hype, and i was over looking them as Froyo was going to help elevate them

so excuse me for being a little upset with not even gtting any information on when or if ffroyo will come to X
we are not mushrooms motorola so quit keeping us in the darrk and feeding us bull****
i know that i am not the only one that feels that way
i just don't care if they know i'm not affraid of stating how i feel here on these forms or anywhere else
I along with may others paid good money for a device that is outdated before it was even released

well i agree for the most part ( love the mushroom reference) the x is everything it was hyped to be. 2.2 is not going to be a magical completely new os. its a lot of bug fixes with a few features added in. As for end of life....you have a one year warranty if in august of next year something is wrong return it and they will get you something of equal value

Try mixing in a period, or maybe even a comma every now and then.

If you want 2.2 so bad download the leak....

Seriously, it's still an awesome phone with 2.1. My goodness, it's not that big of a deal. Maybe it WAS or still is slated for end of summer. MAYBE they ran into problems and will be delayed. WHO CARES?!?! Get over it and stay away from the knife drawer....

I LOVE my droid x the way it is, absolutely love it without a doubt and its way better than my old tour. Does that mean im not mad? No. Im pissed that motorola wont even comment on where it is. They said early september, we are passed that deadline, and they havent even opened their mouths. We have every right to be angry. You dont promise something to the community that wont come out on time.

well here we all are awaiting on the release of 2.2 "FROYO" now with 2 days left of summer
i now see that motorola is taking a play from Rim "blackberry" get the product sold to the coustomers and not support it
the one thing that everyone has forgoten is that very shortly after X's release both moto &verizion stated that the End of life for both the X and droid 2 was going to be in march so why are we drod x users sticking with a product that both the manufacture have deamed not worth keeping around any longer then a few months

First of all Did the Original droid get 2.2 8 months after release? Yes. How's that for support?

Most phones EOL is usually short of a year. Nothing new there. You must pay attention to only the details you want to.

I saw that chart about March and I am not sure I believe it. I think March might have been a placeholder. The same date was listed for over half the phones on the chart, so unless VZW is planning on changing half the phones overnight I wouldn't put too much faith in the March listing.

On the flipside, if March is just a placeholder it could just wind up being something like January.

I think you can believe the March, 2011 date is real.

It shouldn't be too surprising, given the rapid turnaround in new smartphones currently, and it doesn't trouble me in the least. My DX will continue to work well for me in April and beyond, and we will have an array of new and better, faster smartphones to choose from later.

One of the more frustrating topics that seems to be getting less play than we feel it should is the Android 2.2 update for the Droid X. You may recall that the DX’s press conference was one of the biggest events in recent history for a single device, claiming some pretty big things, most importantly that Froyo and Flash 10.1 would be just a few short weeks away from launch or by “the end of summer.” Well guess what? We’re almost in early fall and have zero idea as to when this thing might actually drop. No word from Verizon and no word from Motorola has left many of us completely frustrated especially with the growing list of known issues for the device on 2.1.

I don't beleive they ever said which end of summer, Northern hemisphere or Southern, if the latter then they have until March 1st.

Haha it's a fair point. Verizon is just using the fact that they're a northern hemisphere carrier to distract us!
