Froyo ETA Set

Re: Froyo in less than 24 hours?!

I had the same problem. Had to bettery pull to reboot or else stuck on Moto M. I did Clockwork Bootstrap recovery and Presto!! I believe it has something to do with the whole logwrapper tricking the phone to boot. Try it. Worked for me.

Just got off the phone with vzw technical support because I was ordering a replacement droidx and they said my phone will be shipped out by 9/7 and froyo will be the os in it.. So expect it to come out on or before that

That sure would be nice but don't be too surprised if you get it shipped to you and there's still 2.1 on it and 2.2 isn't out yet.

#1 rule, never believe anything a rep says. They know just as much as we do.

Most phone customer service reps will say whatever it takes to get you off the phone as quick as possible lol.

That's actualy pretty accurate. My cousin is a general manager at VZW and gets to go to some corporate events/meetings. He actualy got to play with DX 1month before it's release but he still has very limited information on updates/release/etc. So why would a rep know something like that, the fone convo with rep is being recorded and all they want you to say is that they helped you in every way, wether the info they gave you is true or not they wanna here you say that you're satisfied. And when you receive your DX 2.1 you have nobody to complain to. The next rep you talk to will tell something completely different to make him/her look smarter than the other rep.

It's really not the reps' fault, they are trained that way. Everything revolves around average handle time of a call. The more calls taken, the more money comes in, especially when dealing with outsourced centers.

Apparently we can expect Froyo within 2 weeks. That's from the founder of GizmoFusion.com on Twitter. He said more info regarding that and some other Verizon stuff tomorrow.

I've known this guy a while and he seems to have some kind of connection with Verizon sources. We'll see what the article says tomorrow :)

Let's hope so. I'm ready for some froyo!!!

Having Froyo by the 7th seems very reasonable, even if the rep was talking out his/her arse. There's already a locked thread at the official Moto forums put up that people can subscribe to in order to find out when 2.2 goes live, and the leaked version seems very close to a final OTA (including fixing most of the known bugs...the fact that a couple new ones may be introduced is just a part of life).

I'd say that something very like the leaked update is in verification right now, and we should see it the first week of September if all goes well. I have no insider knowledge at all, it's just my observations on the market.

So when the VZW official version is OTA, will we be able to update to that over this leaked version?

If the OTA is a newer version than the leaked one, then yes. Unless, of course, VZW and Moto want to stick it to the X users that installed the leak and make it so that the OTA won't work for them :p

can't someone then just rip the update.zip and make that available? im assuming thats possible, although i dont know if we d lose root or not
