Froyo RAM only at 304mb

So from what I have read over and over again eclair was only compatible up to an x amount of ram in my case it was 304mb on my Samsung Captivate with Rogers. Also it was to my understand that when we got froyo that we would use the whole 512mb of ram that Samsung says our phone comes with. However when I go under my task manager it is only showing 304mb of ram total. I would like to use my phone to my whole potential anyone have any comment on what I should do maybe email Samsung I dono

The amount of ram show by the task manager (304) is the amount of ram that is not being used not the total amount of ram in your device.

no it's the total

it says how much your using and the total.... my other friend has a captivate with rogers too and he only has 304 mb of ram TOTAL

I have to agree with Sky.Jokiel, I recently flashed the leaked 2.2 Att rom to my Captivate and it pretty clearly states:

Random access memory(RAM)
248MB/304MB

With the first number fluctuating depending on what is running while the 304MB staying solid and clearly representing the total available memory to the running applications and system.

If there is 512MB of physical ram, the leaked ATT 2.2 Froyo does not give access to it.

Yeah I have froyo on my Captivate from Rogers and it does say 304 as its total memory. I thought it has 512MB.

my rogers (on Fido) galaxy S running 2.2 shows 117Mb/304MB with no apps in use.
