If I wanted to install this, what steps would I take? Can I go to this from my phone and install or do I follow steps mentioned in other threads?

open it and follow instructions...it will warn you that its wiping all of your data and to connect your phone...let me know if you do it.

i would but i'm at work (ehem) and would have to reflash back to 2.1 (have skyraider) to feel ok doing it. SOMEBODY out there with a stock phone has to have the guts to do this right?

I have the guts to give it a try, but I am out at school right now and won't be home until 5:30 Do you need to be rooted to do this one? I also need to do a backup of my apps, I hate reloading them (already did this once).

I just downloaded and updating my phone via USB cable from the PC, i will update with the results soon

Did your phone have to be rooted?

no, just downloaded to PC and when you run the EXE it, it will ask you to connect your phone via USB. that's all, i am trying to get the pictures now

If I load this and it turns out not to be the OTA are we going to be stuck like the EVO people for a while? Cause that would suck, or can we revert back to 2.1 easily?

Okay, so, those who know these things -- if I want to backup my apps/phone before installing this, UNROOTED, what's the best option? I have my apps backed up by Astro -- other than paid apps, what data am I going to lose?

97% downloaded... I'm guessing I'll have Froyo this afternoon (need to run home to watch my daughter go to her first day of kindergarten or it would be in the next half hour- kids, it's always something with them- jk)

you will not loose any data on SD card for sure, and also contacts and other stuff is synsched from web anyhow (gmail, facebook) etc... you just need to configure these accounts again, the whole new process
