so how many of you flashed froyo and went back to eclair?

I did.... every Rom I tried, the best battery life I could get would be about 8-10hrs with very little use.

I use my phone for work and need it to last atleast one whole day and I couldn't hardly get that.

I can get almost 48hrs with a superclean/voodoo setup on 2.1.

I loved all the new features in froyo but I just couldn't handle the battery life.

I'm just curious how many people switched back?

2x 1500mah BATTERY + CHARGER FOR Samsung FASCINATE I500 - eBay (item 180599454166 end time Mar-11-11 00:12:51 PST)

8-10hrs of little use is abysmal... and probably isn't the ROM or 2.2.
I got around 48hrs on 2.1 w/ voodoo and i get around 24hrs on SC 2.6v but i'm also using my phone a lot more these days.
Maybe you should check out the How To battery thread?
Not saying your problem's not legitimate, but did you try reconditioning your battery?

I am about to drop back to Eclair. I have lost data network connectivity via the cell modem and I ended up buying a 3000mah battery to get me through a single 12 hour off charge.

Pretty pathetic and 2.2 isn't even all that much faster or better...

how about we find you a better solution then dropping back down...what version of 2.2 are you running, stock, debloated, superclean?

I dropped back down. Not because of battery issues, just felt like it. Right now I am running in brand new out of the box mode, all bloatware and not rooted.

I've done the battery thing numerous times with little help. I find that my phone is either not sleeping when the screen is off or something because it can chew threw 20-30% battery in just a couple hrs of it sitting there.

I also am now getting around 30hrs of battery life with little to moderate use and haven't done the battery recondition again.

I just fully wiped mine back to Eclair last night (from Eb01 debloated/deodexed). The clock lag (tried clocksync, drained my battery too much) and the weather widget giving me different weather than the website was enough for me. This might seem minuscule for some...I guess I wanted my phone to run more efficient. I will try again...whenever there are less bugs. Also, I wanted to make sure I didn't download any malware that's been going on lately in the Android Market.

I am open for any suggestions as to running a more efficient Froyo experience.

Thanks much

Have you analyzed what exactly is chewing up your battery? SC 2.x comes with spare parts in your apps. Have you looked at that to see what is eating it all up?

If you're leaving GPS toggled on, it will constantly drain on 2.2... Not the case on 2.1. I was having similar poor battery life, turned off GPS, and now I'm getting much better performance. Not quite what I could get on 2.1, but still much improved

I've had exactly the same experience with 2.2. With GPS on, the battery died overnight starting with a 50% charge. After wiping the battery stats and turning off GPS I can make it through a whole day with light use.

I was about to make a thread like this.

I gave froyo about a week to try, some good and bad things I noticed:
I like the pull down menu including mobile data,
Lots of force closes - every time from wordsmith to text messaging
Battery life.
Vibrate changed? I hate that long vibrate as opposed to the short.

I never get force closes, you should consider clearing your cache

I am surprised at all of the Froyo complaints. My battery drain on 2.2 is more than 2.1 but not terrible. A ten hour day on 2.1 used to put me around 80% battery remaining with GPS always on. Now I am about 70% again with GPS always on at the end of a 10 hour day. That's only 1% per hour more drain. I only use the phone 10 minutes or so a day while at work and my tower reception is poor at about 50% no signal. My phone also has weather bug widget, 2 IP camera widgets, a live wallpaper, flashlight widget, google maps and lattitude running so I have to have a relatively high stand by drain.

If you battery is draining in one day, just look at what is killing it and fix it.

BTW I am running a stock debloated Froyo.

I didn't full examine it but I assume based on what I saw that my phone was not sleeping properly.

I NEVER GPS on. I always turn it on only when needed.

Hey DXC, I ended up just flashing back up to SupahClean 2.8 update 1 (just released) and back to Voodoo Kernel. We will see how the battery life holds up, so far not a single force close in 5 hours post flashing.
