Froyo Tomorrow What Should i do?

Downloading the official froyo now......
It's just the principal of the whole ordeal for me lol....

Yeah there is definitely a new community ROM coming out according to Adrynalyne's EC01 ROM post... It will probably put the stock Froyo release to shame..

I quote "This ROM is ever so slightly tweaked. It is not a quality release by my standards (mostly because its stock). I recommend folks wait for the community rom to be finished. If you can't wait, by all means, flash away.

Further updated by Adrynalyne in his Superclean thread on 04/17 at 9:18 P.M. Central time:

Hey folks,

Sorry I neglected this thread so much.

I'm giving an update and will stay on top of it for now on.

We are currently working on a community rom on IRC based on EC01. Now, this may seem weird, but we are going on a theory that ED01 is the same rom. Mainly because, EC01 was compiled 3/30, despite the name conflict.

To be honest the Froyo updates from Samsung are really bad, still very slow etc. Like I did with my Vibrant, just wait for nice ROMs to hit XDA, and install em, they have some nicer features anyways.

Sent from my Xoom

Why is everyone bashing 2.9.2 and battery life? I'm on 2.9.2 and EC01 with Honeycomb 4.2 and I unplugged my phone from the charger this morning around 6 am and its 945 pm now and still showing 73% battery ?

What the update is.

Just for something to do, I updated to 2.2 from Verizon. A couple of quick notes:

1. It includes google search, google maps, google voice and gmail (along with Bing of coarse).

2. It includes the rumored media hub.

3. Normal bloatware along with Madden NFL 11

It takes a while to download. Actually updates and restarts pretty quick. I plan on rooting and playing soon but wanted to at least see what Verizon was trying to do to make this phone better for those who do not root.

I will probably restore my backup tomorrow and then wait for the community rom. Just an FYI for those wondering.

You can re-root using the methods listed by DroidXCon - I tried the re-odin of CWR and then applying the superuser and busybox zip via CWR and works like it should. Will continue to test more later.

My thoughts exactly! My battery life SUCKED on the most recent version of the leak. I switched to 2.9.2, and once I got my Sleep of Death issue resolved, my battery life is awesome!!

Same thing here bruce. My battery life tanked on the EC01 leak. Switched back to tried & true, red white & blue SC 2.9.2 and I'm back to having plenty o juice to make it through a day pretty much no matter what my level of usage. Because let's admit it folks, it's pretty easy to charge our phones overnight with the full battery pop up disabled. So is there a real need to have your battery last more than say 20 hours with moderate to heavy usage?

At first SC was messing with my battery life but I followed the directions on another thread to reset battery stats and has been great ever since.

does anyone know if we can use bluetooth for speech to text in the OTA Froyo?
That would be my only reason to go back from SC 2.9.2

So if I want to try the OTA update do I need to un-root?

I am worried that it might brick the phone?

Thoughts?
