Frustrating thumb typing not recognizing (Any advice?)

(I have smaller hands, I'm 5-7")

When I hold the HTC One X in my right hand in Portrait orientation and use my thumb to type on the on-screen keyboard, I can not get the "A" "Q" "S" "W" "Z" and "X" to recognize. My part of my hand in between the thumb and pointer finger also touches the "back arrow" and "return" key on the on-screen keyboard causing hysterical texting. I have to use two hands now or a firm pointer finger, but then I am not using one hand. I have no clue if there is a way to do this better.

What keyboard are you using? I can understand your problem since I often accidently come in contact with the search button on my phone with the pad of my thumb. Give Swiftkey keyboard a try. Its excellent predictive ability may help.

I had similar problems with we on the HTC keyboard, but downloaded ics keyboard and haven't had the problem with it. I think it has to do with the narrowness of the keys on the HTC board.

I have the SAME exact problem, particularly with the 't'.

I was using the stock keyboard. Switch to the GO keyboard and it still happens, though less frequently.

ICS Keyboard is amazing....swiftkeyy and better keyboard are also great options as well. The stock keyboard is great if you are a swype user

Do yourself a favor and buy SwiftKey.

I don't find this problem to be corrected by swiftkey, because its not a keyboard problem.

The problem is that these users have hands that are small enough such that multi-touch is tripping them up. They are touching the edge of the screen. This is exacerbated by small sized bezel on the edges of this phone.

I love swiftkey for its prediction capabilities but I find it induces more keyboard misses than other keyboards, especially around the letter A S W. Its hotspot recognition needs a bit of a tweak.

I've had a different experience with SkiftKey. It has always been more precise than other keyboards I've tried, with the added benefit of learning all of my most commonly used words. I rarely need to type whole words anymore.

Agreed. I use it exclusively.
But not so much one handed.

Sent from my HOX

At 6'1" and as someone who can grip a basketball with one hand, I would hardly consider my hands 'small'.

I bought swiftkey and was still unhappy. The predictive text was great but made way too many mistakes. Switched to ics keyboard and have been very happy.
