Full price?

I have one upgrade available which I'll use for the Nexus and another one in December for the next best thing. I'm lucky to have 2 younger boys with lines that never get their upgrades since I pay the bills.

Just want to remind everyone to stay on topic.

Just remember that after retirement, during your "golden years". You might have a hard time talking your way out of moving into a nursing home when they're paying the bills because they may recall the decade they had to make due w/ some crappy flip phone relic for 10 years while dear ol' dad experienced smartphone bliss. lol

I see no need to "lighten up." I'm just saying that if $50 to $100 bucks puts you out so much that you can no longer buy the phone, you probably ought to stick with something else (though tntdroids idea of adding a second line sounds like a good one). A phone is a not a good reason to have financial trouble. The "stop checking this forum" comment was in the context of "stop tempting yourself," not meant to be taken as "go away."

As to my financial situation, I'm sorry that you're upset about me being able to afford this phone. You must be really upset when you here about someone like Bill Gates being able to buy an airplane.

Don't mind what I said, hollow comment. I kinda trolled that one a lil bit. I posted that for my own comedic value. The thought came to mind after I read & amused me while typing it. 100%, no ill intent.

Open a new line. Get the phone for 299. Over 2 years you pay 240 more so total is 540. Plus your only paying 300 up front then making $10 monthly payments. Just make sure you dump the new number into a dumb phone that doesn't need a data plan. I have done this and find it now lets me upgrade every year as each line is up for a new phone a year after the other.

I'm assuming this is only good for people on family plans. I am on a Individual plan and if I add a line, that means going to a family plan to add the "dummy" line and that changes my plan from 39.99 to 69.99 for the voice portion. Am I missing something?

Excellent Idea! Had totally forgotten about this! I was looking for a reason to change my number too (just moved from one state to another and want a local number). Double plus for me - get the phone for $299 and love the fact that it allows another upgrade path...thanks!

I know this is the verzion forum but does anyone know if the 17th release date is confirmed for UK and if so how long til it's available for us to purchase and have shipped here? I plan on paying full price.

You could add a line. Get the upgrade price and a new number. Then cancel the new line in a week or two and get your old number back.

Anyone know where you would generally get the best price when buying off contract?

Verizon and their corporate stores tend to have the best price for full retail. Best Buy and other 3rd party sellers tend to add at least $100 to the price. Radio Shack was showing a full retail price of $799.99 for the Bionic while it was $589 at Verizon.

I'll throw in my wild speculation (that's all we can do at this point)

$699 for the 16gb
I can't see any way it's less than the razr

699 for the 16GB? I highly doubt it. If it is up at 699, that is going to be for the 32GB version.

I'm still betting that Verizon only has one version of the phone, probably the 32 gb. I just don't see them wanting to stock 2 different versions.

Another thought: do you think Google might exert some pressure on the price as well?

(and for the record, if it's $649 that won't break the bank. It just would be more than expected.)

The add a line trick is interesting, and I might explore that.

They stock more than one version of the iPhone.

I really hope the 32 gig is under $650 but I have a feeling Verizon will want to screw us.

I'm actually going to say its going to be cheaper then the Razr. I think the average user is going to be more attracted to the Razr then the GN. The GN has a slightly bigger screen, NFC and slightly faster processor.

While the Razr will undoubtly feel more solid and I think that alone will sell for a premium. Steel frame, g glass, Kevlar back (I like the look enough).

Lets not forget the main reason we are buying this phone, ICS. And when the time comes I don't think Verizon will push the GN too much either.
