Functionality of home button in Nexus 6p with android N

If I long press my home button present at bottom of the screen,the screen is getting turned off. Normally in android mobile, if we long press home button it will display the Google search screen.
I just want to know is this a new functionality or any defect.

I'm still getting Google search results when I long-press the home button in Nougat 7.1.1.
Not sure what's going on with yours, then.

Does this also happen in Safe mode? If not, you must have a 3rd party application that's modifying the behavior of the button.

You can turn that function on or off in settings of getting search for the page or screen you're on with long press of the home button.
