FYI: Changing LED Notification Color based on App - Light Flow

Hmm would be nice if it had a LED light for voicemail too :)

^ I think the full version does...and for google voice too!

I can confirm it does have both of those.
I have noticed some of the colors in the app the Atrix doesn't seem capable of, but that's of no fault to the app, I think it's related to the phone itself. :)

This is an awesome app and its well worth the price. Has a lot more features compared to Blink. I love the LED Notifyer on here.............reminds me of my X ever so loved BlackBerrys :).

PS. Dont get it tangled up, Ill still pop out the Bold 9700 if I have to! :)

EDIT: Added this app to the Atrix FAQs that are stickied. Post #3. I think Atrix owners would love to have this installed.

If Andrew ends up adding all the features that BerryBuzz (or BeBerry when joined Blackberry App World) gave us, I would gladly pay an upgrade fee or two!! Such as settings custom notifications for custom contacts.. :D

I know you can set individual ring tones for a contact from inside that contact on the phone. You can also use the individual settings in Go (and I think Handcent) to change notification tones and led colors for SMS/MMS from different contacts. This ought to get you about 7/15ths of the way there

I've made a request to the dev to add support for MailDroid Pro. The LED for MailDroid doesn't work for now, but I'll wait.

I knew of the stock contact thing, but that just lets you do ringtone only. However, I didn't realize Handcent allowed custom LEDs and sound notifications for individual contacts.. I must have skipped over it. Thanks! I'll look for it :)

I just had amazing correspondence with this developer. He was very quick in responding to my questions. I urge all stateside users who can purchase overseas developers apps to buy the app. My credit card wont allow it and I told him I would sing his praises to you all.
Please consider supporting him!

Hi,
It'll certainly be coming. It's on "the list" of things to do.

I am hoping in the future to add notifications by contact, but it'll probably be limited to missed calls, SMS, MMS and gmail messages. It's probably still a fair way off at the moment as there's lots of other things in the pipeline.

Next release won't bring any new notification types, but will hopefully add
* a backup & restore to SD card option for your settings.
* Better consistency of light flashing.
* Better battery use where two notification types use the same color
* Ability to switch off LED's for notifications but still have sound and vibration
* Auto switch off of notification after a user defined amount of time (if wanted)
* More accurate timing on vibrate and sound. So if you select repeat every minute it won't start until the minute is up.

Now if I could only work out why the backup option on a fresh install only captures about 80% of the 430 preferences available I'd be able to get the release out :confused:

Downgrade to a nexus one, I do like the glowing trackball and the color support it has. Whenever I get around to upgrading I'll miss it!

grrr the latest update now works wonky. the sms led notification will NOT go away despite me reading the message now :( (using stock message app)

Try going into your phone settings, choose accessibility. Uncheck accessibility and recheck it again. This will restart the accessibility services. Hopefully this should fix it for you.
Cheers

Thanks I'll try that if it happens again. I kinda just restarted my phone and it works 'normally' now :p

Hi Andrew -

This doesn't work on my Incredible 2. I disabled LED notifications in 3rd party apps, put it in compatibility mode, toggled accessibility on and off, all to no avail. The only time LF turns on the LED is if I turn off compatibility mode, but it turns on when I open the app and then it won't turn off. It doesn't actual function when I get an SMS for example.

Hi,
Yes the Incredible 2.....there's good new and bad news.
The app will work with the Incredible 2.....(and now the bad news), but only when rooted - and with limited colors.

HTC don't use androids standard API to access the notification lights (hence the need for compatibility mode). Compatibility mode essentailly bypasses the android api and drops out to the underlying Unix operating system beneath android. On froyo and older builds the standard phone user has read and write access to these files, but on any HTC phones with gingerbread root is required to access them.

The phone also only has an amber and green led in it, limiting the colors available. I am working on adding more control to those colors, plus controlling of the button backlights and even the camera flash for notifications, but they will all require root on your phone.

Thanks. I've never rooted before. Do I just make sure the program is installed and then follow the procedure outlined here?

Re: FYI: Changing LED Notification Color based on App - Light Flo

Hi
I've recently updated to 2.6.0 in the market after having problems with 2.5.0.
It's quite hard to gauge if people are still having problems as market comments don't show which version they were against.
I would love to know if anyone is having problems with 2.6.0
Cheers
Andrew

Thanks, it's a site I view daily at work - although not the forums as they are blocked :'(

I've avoided posting anything about the app as I didn't want to get flamed for self promotion, but once somebody else has mentioned it, that's different :p

ok, back to adding more features:
Notifications coming next for:
* liveprofile
* touchdown
* ebay
* craigsnotifica
* taskos
* Jersey productions tv guides
It would be awesome if you could get the app to work for the LG revolution. I'm tired of my boring solid blue notification light
