There was a similar thread in the Sprint section, but I thought it'd be useful to post here as well.

I'm currently on ATT and have been waiting forever for EVO 3D to come out. Went to the local Sprint store and asked them if I could pre-order the EVO 3D and still take advantage of the $125 transfer credit they're offering which ends 6/23, the day before I'd be able to pick up my EVO 3D.

Was expecting a "no," but they said I could do it. They're just having me come in next Thursday, buy a temp phone, and then come back on Friday and return it for the EVO 3D. They said they wouldn't charge a restocking fee either.

Only thing that has me worried a bit is that they said they'd give me a dumbphone on the 23rd as my temp phone, but according to Sprint.com, you have to activate a smartphone to get the $125 credit; you only get $50 if you activate a regular phone.

So I'll clear it up with them when I go in on Thursday. I can understand that they don't want to hand out Nexus 4Gs and EVO 4Gs left and right knowing full well they're just going to be returned the next day, but I want to make sure I get my full $125 credit!

TLDR: You can get the EVO 3D and the $125 credit if you're coming over from a different carrier, and it looks like that's the best deal right now, even with paying $199 + tax + potential activation fee.

Hope this helps for those wondering. Can't wait to get rid of my ancient RAZR V3 (no laughing! :'( I already get the ninth degree from all my friends) and get my first smartphone.

A friend of mine went to a sprint store and was told that all corporate stores in the city (grand rapids, Mi) are extending the porting credit until the 24th as to not run into this problem.

just letting you know.

Nice, hopefully the store I'm getting it at will extend it as well; would much rather not have the hassle of getting a temp phone and returning it.

I purchased an OG Evo from Amazon Wireless during their Memorial Day sale just for this reason. I was told by AW that it wouldn't be a problem to get the 3D when it came out (I just have to wait until it comes out, I can't pre-order it), and they even noted everything in my account.

I also just noticed that Best Buy is offering the OG Evo for free with a new activation (don't know how long that will last). So, worst case, I'd say get the OG Evo at BB, port your number over now, then take it back on the 24th and pick up the 3D. Easy peasy...

just bought the E3D through wirefly, how will i get my transfer credit? i called sprint & wirefly and they said the promotion is expired on the 23 of this month and did not mention any extension. Should I have asked the rep. about the extension? The transfer credit is my deal breaker. :'(

Yeah the transfer credit was the dealbreaker for me as well. I haven't found anything official regarding whether it has been extended. I hope it is, so I don't have to deal with the hassle of getting a temp phone on the 23rd just to return it the next day for the EVO 3D.

Might call Sprint today and see if they know anything. Anyone have a link to the current playbook that would confirm this?

I transferred my # to Sprint last week, picked up the EVO4G and reserved my EVO3D....this way I get my port credit and will get my EVO3D under the 30-day guarantee. The Sprint corporate person and the salesperson at the store told me this was OK and that is what they'd do in order to get the credit and the phone.....so that's what I did.

I did the same thing for my fiance. She gets a new 4g until the 3d comes out. She will then be the recipient of my old 4g. Oh well it is a huge upgrade for her

I guess it is one of those "the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing kind of thing" Getting the phones for $25.00 each with free activation blows my mind. I'm a deep deals-fiend. I need this discount!!!! lol Wirefly said that Sprint approved my account so how come they just can't note the account? anywhoo I will try later again closer to the launch date.

you know what...we should leave comments on Sprint Facebook page asking to extend the port-in credit promotion. That usually works.

Take advantage of the 30-day return policy Sprint and Best Buy have. Port the number, get a smart phone then exchange for the 3D when it's released. The seems like the easiest option without worrying, imo.
