Alright that was quick. Samsung just emailed that my return was successfully processed and refunded the amount

1/ Initiated return with restocking fees ($45.64) and dropped off at FedEx on July 23, Wednesday.

2/ FedEx delivered the phone back to Samsung via FedEx ground on July 28, Monday.

3/ Samsung acknowledge return received on July 28, Monday.

4/ Samsung emailed return successful and refunded the amount on July 29, Tuesday.

5/ Now will submit claim to AMEX return protection for refunding the restocking fees.

Indeed. I also saw someone post on Reddit that their return to sender order initiated on July 23rd was also successfully refunded today.

So there might not be that much difference in processing speed between both the options.

For the record this "EXTRA DISCOUNT" was on the phone i returned.
