The incompatible message for root means nothing more than google covering there butt if an exploit VIA root is carried out. I got my $40 5 days after I got the phone, with root. I bought mine in a Sprint store launch day. My wifes has not gotten it and she got online from radioshack. So I'll give it another week and see if it comes before I raise hell.

The deal has always been that the extra $40 will be sent within 3 weeks of your phone's activation.
If not there by then, call the Wallet.

I finally got my extra $40.00 today and I was one of the pre-order folks who got my phone the Friday before launch. Also, I am actually running CM9 AOKP and I still received the extra $40.00 fine so being rooted/running custom ROM's doesn't seem to make any difference in receiving your extra money (assuming that every time you flash your phone, you use the same google account for wallet).
