G2 D802 reboots when sync enabled

Hi all.

I suddenly encountered an issue after recording a voice memo.
Straight after accepting it, my phone started into a reboot loop. I spent a couple of hours trying to figure it out, even tried to get into the recovery mode without success.

It wasn't until I started turning things off, wifi data sync etc that the phone started operating again.

One by one i turned them back on again and it turns out that it was the auto sync causing the reboot.

Currently it's off and I'm writing this on it, but I would like to turn it back on again.

Any ideas?

My D803 just started doing this today after lunch as well!!

Phone will boot up fine but as soon as it starts to try and sync, it reboots. If I disable sync, it will work fine with no reboots. I noticed that google updated a bunch of their apps today, I wonder if one of them is the culprit? My google searches show people had a similar problem with a Gmail update a couple of years ago.

I just flashed my stock firmware using "normal flash" from the LG Flash Tool. This doesn't affect any of my user apps. I'm still having the same reboots though.

What "accounts" do you have listed under Accounts & Sync? I've got 2 google accounts, an evernote account and a Microsoft Office account.

I've only got 3 email accounts and 1 Google account. I've tried clearing the app cache and data cache for each 'google' app but to no avail. Perhaps I'll try uninstalling all of the google apps back to factory

Let me know how that goes. I posted a link on reddit under the LG G2 subreddit to try and get some more help on this as well.

Are you rooted? Running any Xposed modules? I disabled all my modules and I'm still having the reboots.

I am nothing.

I'm not rooted, running any Xposed modules.
I am running a completely stock LG Firmware phone. I'm actually happy enough with the phone, as it is stock, without feeling the need to root it or mess about with it.

I don't remember seeing any app updates. But I'll have a look to see

Nope, just uninstalled all of the google app updates via the play store and as soon as I turned on auto sync, the phone rebooted. So, doesn't look like it's an update.

Just removed my google account from the phone and turned on Sync and it didn't reboot so it's got to be a google account app that's causing it somehow. As soon as I added the account back and it started to auto sync. It reboot.

Stupid thing is, if I go into the sync section of the account, I can sync it manually.

Ok, so I've just uninstalled every Google update from my phone via the apps settings page and cleared all of the data related to them and stopped wifi updates shop everything is back to stock.

Auto sync is on and we're not rebooting. What i shall do later is update the apps one by one and see what if any of them was causing it

Interesting. I just flashed the stock 4.4.2 firmware and wiped my phone clean. Setup 1 google account and sync is enabled with no boot loops. Just going to try restoring all my applications with Titanium Backup and see what happens after that.

Reinstalled all of the google app updates and it seems to be working fine now. Obviously something just went awry. Glad I didn't have to factory reset it!

EDIT: Scratch that, my battery is draining twice as quick! Google play services seem to be the culprit.

Hi, I managed to solve the problem clearing data of google services framework from settings->all applications.

It seems the reboot problem disappeared

Yup, continuously syncing now. I've even gone and updated the firmware via the LG software and it's still doing it.

I've read though that people are having problems with the latest google play services update.

Just gone into the google play services under task manager, every few seconds 'Offline credentials sync' pops up for 10 seconds or so and then dissapears

Reverting the google play services to an older version seems to stop the constant sync.

Will try updating it to an older version to see what happens

Yeah, seems like it's sorted. I reverted back to many different versions of google play services. In the end, cleared and disabled framework and google play. Updated, enabled them both, enabled the security manager, turned off wifi, turned it back on and it's sorted.

This is happening on my mom's phone as well. Galaxy Note 2 on Sprint. I never would have expected sync being on or not to be the culprit, but stumbled upon it last night. With sync off, everything works. Within 15 seconds of turning it back on the reboot loop starts. Even in safe mode the reboot loop continues.

The only account she has enabled is her Google account. I'm having her look for her password now so that I can try reconnecting it. Otherwise it's a fully stock phone. She couldn't root it or side load apps if she had wanted to. Will let you know if I find anything. Sounds like there are some preliminary reports that a reset will fix it, but I'd prefer not going to that extent if not required.
