G2 vs G3 personal observations..

Well i jumped this month from moto x ( miss those active notifications) to a G2 (surprised how much i liked LG UI ) to the G3 yesterday.. first 24 hours battery life sucks compared to the G2 i would say it's on par to the IPhone as being bad.. Phone does get Hot not painfully hot but much hotter then the G2 ever been.. The software has some very nice improvements i like the Keyboard but with the microphone it useless for me so back to my Google defalult Keyboard.. I like the ability to hide the the soft Keys on selected apps such as Chrome and the native LG browser which i prefer over Chrome.. Now for the screen it's bigger not sure yet if it's better cant really say as the G2 screen blows the moto x .. would i buy it again knowing what i know probably not but that is just me..i would say the G2 with the G3 skin would be more than enough .. the HD Screen doesn't compensate for the terrible battery life and the overheating..jmho oh and to charge the Phone take about twice as long as it did on the G2..

Well 5hrs and 16mins screen on time doesn't warrant the battery sucks comment.

Overheating I have recently shot a 5min UHD video with just warm temperature.

So you have these issues well I don't and the G3 runs smooth bar a tiny bit of lag when entering the app drawer but nothing terrible. I'm sure a software update will fix.

Some are reporting your issues so ain't going to say your wrong.

But battery life and temperature has been fine for me.

Not arguing just telling my observations.. reading fine print like article or even this Forum the G2 picture is clearer and whiter compared to the G3 when placed side to side .. I didn't get a chance to take pictures but the little i did were just ok nothing special.. watching You Tube or videos i would the G3 is very nice but so was the G2.. all in all it's an upgrade but in my opinion unless you are a Tech junkie got to have the latest upgrading to a G3 is a waste of money for most consumers.. it was for me ..again this just me first 24 hours

G2 is an excellent phone even by today's standards so I totally agree with yea there

For me I'm not upgrading from the G2 though.

My G3 is making all my apps function better it seems. Google keyboard is spot on where as before it would sometimes stop swyping and revert to tap text. My Adw launcher is running liquid smooth...

I'll agree with Duncan the G3 is feeling pretty amazing so far

First full day with the G3, unplugged from charger at 8am and 12 hours later at 61% charge and 2 hours screen time with moderate use all day emails and texting and snapchatting at work. I expected worse being a first full charge but I'm happy with it so far and looks like I could go 4 hours screen time if needed and not much different than my G2.

After putting my sim in the phone, I did do a factory wipe and immediately enabled ART and disabled most of the AT&T bloatware and install my 32gb sandisk ultra pro microsd and running fine.

I'm coming from a G2 also and I'll say if you're coming from a G2 or like the other thread the person from LG Optimus G Pro, then imo it's not a huge jump where I think it's worth the upgrade and I'd just save my money for the moto 360 or the G4. I mean let's be real, the other phones mentioned are barely a year old and had top specs and these phones are good enough to hold there own for two cycles easy. I would say that for the HTC going M7 to M8 and I'd say it for the Galaxy from S4 to S5 and iPhone 5 to 5s.

The G3 has the latest specs and I think LG came out with a solid successor to last years and over the year and little updates like the G2 had it also will be clearly the better phone from last years as well as accessories like bigger batterys.

You can't make statements like that or you can but you sound ridiculous.

I am not having a go, we all perceive things differently.

You see the G3 as lacklustre then why ***** and moan and just stick it on eBay and purchase something that makes you happy? And that you can benefit from.

I can't see what you are, that ain't me jumping on any fanboy bandwagon either, if I don't like a particular device instead of ******** I sell it. And if I am going to be a critic I make it constructive atleast.

So the G3 hasn't met your expectations that's fine.

But for me I didn't set them high, and I was pleasantly surprised infact it surpassed my expectations in many ways.

But thanks for sharing your experience and hope you either find that the G3 is for you and if not good there are plenty of other great smartphones to choose from.

My g3 is an improvement over my g2 in:
Better signal,and call quality
Bluetooth is much much more stable and automatic
WiFi is much better and steady
The speaker kills the g2
The size seems the same,but .3 inch more screen
The display is noticeably clearer
There is a friggin sd card now.
I can replace the battery also.
I find less lag than my g2
I miss my old drop down brightness bar. That's it. The g3 is a substantial upgrade over my g2 which I loved.

I like the G2.
The only real flaw I saw with the G2 was lack of microSD support.
If it weren't for that, I would have bought the G2 over the Galaxy S4.
The G3 is nice and I'm waiting for the Verizon release so I can buy one on Swappa.

well that's it the G3 went back today battery went from 96% to 36% within 3 hours with moderate use.. also the Phone gets too hot for my taste.. I think LG jumped on the QHD spec war too early.. in a years time the G4 will have all this kinks worked out.. jmho

Again unfortunate that your experiencing this.

But my G3 is not applicable to your findings as all is well.

What I don't understand is when people post an issue and then assume every G3 is plagued with the same issue. So far mine is very nice

I bet it was an app that went wrong draining your phone... could have been some app that kept using gps for location polling or something. I mean it happens... I think at one time the facebook app was buggy in that it sapped battery quick. who knows and you feel the need to send it back asap but it definitely not the norm and too bad didnt take more time to sort it out. i've done tech support in a past life and just amazing when people bought $3000+ laptops and they think its "broken" or "defective" by a program they installed and then rant, get upset and then decide to take it back :/

That's what I'm hoping for. My G2's signal is good and it's as good as the M8, but I'm hoping the signal will be a little better with the G3. Our office sits in the middle of cellphone hell. Most of the time I can't surf on any device from my desk. If I can just squeeze out a few more dBms, I'd be good. We'll see.

It sounds like you needed to send it back. Stick with the G2. It's still a great phone and will be for quite a while.

I understand that people will have issues and come here to post them and look for possible solutions.

Its this way on all the forums I read. Everyone thinks that their problem is a "Known" issue. I can't stand that saying, "The problem is known by LG, Moto, VZW, AT&T, Etc.) I want to say, "Oh ya? Well I don't know about it and my phone works great."; however, I can't because I'd be banned from the online fight the would ensue.

Did you make sure it wasn't an app running in the background killing the battery? Or maybe you got stuck with a lemon of a device.

As for the abuse? Maybe your not offended by others using words like that in replies to you but to some it is offensive and rude.

Can I ask any of you how strong the vibration is on your phones when in "vibrate" mode? I am asking because I can't even hear or feel the vibration while at my desk and I even created my own vibration. I am wondering if I should return the phone for another.
