G2X Available

Well, I called them and they have redeemed themselves. They credited the entire shipping cost so I got free shipping. I may not get to play with the new device today but it looks like tmobile has pretty good service so far.

Maybe. Will use the 20 day return period to evaluate the service for sure. Have to make sure coverage and usage isn't worse then where I am coming from, you know?

laker666,

We all know that you're busy running the phone through its paces, but can you give us some more dish on what you think so far? Other than the snappiness, how quick is it to snap photos? What's the video recording like? Is it Froyo or Gingerbread (asking because I'm seeing conflicting info on the interwebs)?

My arrival date per UPS is Tuesday, so I need something to keep me from Jonesin. Speak up man! j/k

It's running vanilla Froyo. Look at the picture earlier in the thread - the white notification bar is from Froyo. If it was Gingerbread it would be black.

Yeah its froyo. The camera doesn't snap photos instantly but it is rather quick. The HDMI mirroring is freaking sweet. 1st quadrant test I ran gave me a 2850 score. It switches between 4g, 3g, and e which is cool to see all those icons but kind of annoying lol. Haven't figured out how to lock it onto 4g yet. GPS is the most accurate I've had on any android phone.

Tried out the G2X at the mall today. Impressive build quality!
Got 4G 3 to 4 Meg uploads/downloads inside the mall which is actually quite impressive as Verizon, AT&T and Sprint barely had 3G reception!

They're already in stores to mess with? I think i'll head down there tomorrow to check it out even if you can't buy them yet at the store.

The T-Mobile sales person was carrying a G2X around with him and let me try it.The official release in stores is apparently April 20.

I know at my store we've got a G2X and a G-Slate around to play with and show customers. Might be worth checking your local store.

I just got back from Local Tmobile store....

The phone is pretty bad ass. I have a N1 and i think i will end up picking up the G2X...It has WIFI tethering/hotspot for those that were wondering. The Stock Android feel is pretty sweet but i have only owend G1 anf the N1 so dont know how sense and others phones feel. Played Need for speed on it and its really smooth. I would love to try out the HDMI to a TV but obviiously wouldnt be able to try that in store. They did have the Docks for it, Car dock and stationary dock. The Car dock is $35 and the desk tock was $45 i think. I put both them on hold since they wouldnt sell them to me today lol..Go figure. They only had 6 docks in the store for the launch. All in all, the phone is nice. The speakers are fairly loud. The phone feels solid to the touch and i love the 4" screen.

I got my phone today. In my house I couldn't keep 4G signal and dropped to 2G a few times. The phone is nice though. It seems to get warm in my hand though when I was installing apps and testing data speeds. I was also charging during some of that time so maybe it was the charging that really added the burn. Time will tell though. There is a screen protector like film on the screen though. At first I thought someone had already taken off the protective cover usually on new phones until I looked closely and saw it. I will be leaving it on though as it feels ok and I do not have anything to replace it with.

19 more days with the service to see if I really want to make the switch.

T-mobile really needs to work on their service. It gets annoying at times. What do you like about the phone so far? You know we are all waiting.......lol
