G3 signal strength

Welcome to the forums and thanks for your input. It begins to look as if there may be a design fault with the phone that needs to be addressed...in fact has already begun to look like that in view of other users' comments here and elsewhere. No doubt you've seen the newish thread in this forum. What's hard to understand is that some users have no signal problems. What's going on?

(Newish thread = 2 concerns radio strength and battery life.)

I can report that the signal strength is perfectly fine, I have compared it to my Z2 and its the same.

I live in the far north of Scotland and we don't as of yet have 4g, but HSDPA and that is fine for now.

I'm with EE who have the best signal strength in my area, i have tried O2 and they are decent, 3 who are very very poor, Vodafone seem to be in the average bracket.

But so far no complaints with Signal or in call clarity or volume.

All is sweet.

This signal issue has me worried, I'm coming from a Droid Maxx. Has me considering the M8 again.

Some interesting stuff in this thread. Definitely seems there is something going on, whether It's a batch of dodgy handers or something more serious is unclear. I believe all UK networks use the same frequency for 3g so the fact that it works well on ee but not on o2 or 3 doesn't necessarily point to anything conclusive. I wondered at first if it was simply poor at receiving a certain band but not sure that's the case

I just received mt G3 yesterday afternoon so my signal strength experience is not a lot but in my office I normally get 1 bar on my Lumia 1520. On my G3 I go between 2 and 3 bars. I know this isn't a technical review but so far my signal strength, according to the bars on the phone, seem higher or on par with my 1520. (AT&T, 32/3 Variant, SC)

Good to hear. I have an AT&T variant arriving today, I'll be interested to see how it compares to my Nexus 5.

Have AT&T model. And either they put up a new tower, or this phone beats the crap out of the Samsung phones I've had. True test will be when I go back to work tomorrow. I work in a low signal battery killing area.

I'm getting about the same 3g signal strength compared to my note 2 but my LTE signal is far worse on the g3. Download speeds are about 12-14mb on my note 2 when i'm on my note 2 on lte, now i'm getting 1.5-3 mb on the g3. Friend just got an m8 will do a signal strength comparison side by side with it. This is on sprint btw.Really liked the g3 but a downgrade in signal strength reception is a deal breaker.

Same with me (Sprint). My Evo 4g LTE got one bar in my office building, and with the G3 I'm getting 3 bars in the same exact location.

I picked up a g3 for sprint, I currently switch between the m8 and g2. I have actually noticed in areas where the m8 and g2 have good service the g3 won't let me make a call. After reading this post I am going to believe there is a reception issue of some sort. For the record my m8 performs much better with reception and data connection than both the LGS

Sort of hard to compare any phone on sprint they are the worst network in America

just checked along side with a friends htc m8, he's getting about -6-10 db better then my g3. Disappointed really, I love the g3 I might be able to live with the slightly better signal because I can always use the wifi calling service were the m8 doesnt have it still and who knows when they will. I would get a better 3g signal though. Might try to exchange i my g3 see if its just a bad antenna

Coming from a Samsung Galaxy S4 that I've had to return due to signal issues the LG G3 is an amazing phone in that area. It has a lot better signal than my s4s ever did.

Sent from my T-Mobile Carrier locked LG G3 without root or anything like that. :)
btw, I'm a girl.

lol I agree with you but oddly enough and to my delighted surprise....I'm getting great data service on my G3 unlike my S3! But to be fair...I was messing with A LOT of custom roms and I think the custom roms where probably giving my device bad service. I'm thinking the G3 is getting good data service due to the access of their Spark network. Whatever it is, I'm happy! :)

m8 htc one was better in signal strength, the whole negative DB is confusing at times but yes were the m8 was getting around -100 to -106 i was get -106 to -116db on my G3
