I'm in the market for my first Smart Phone, and seriously considering the G4. I have service with Verizon, and in doing research on phones they offer, ran across information that Verizon's phones no longer are capable of simultaneous voice and data, unless you enable the Advanced Calling 1.0 system, which uses VoLTE and the 4G network to carry voice and data at the same time. Has anyone tried this, and if so, how strong is phone reception and data throughput? I hear the voice quality is very good if both phones are using it, but how strong is the signal?
Thanks!

The signal will be the same strength as you have now with your old phone. It is just using LTE for the call.. So basically it's like the call is your Facebook app (or whatever) and using the LTE data.

Verizon claims it won't count against my data usage, and I assume that's correct?

When the receiving end has VoLTE as well you will see an icon come up during the call that says HD. It sounds really strange the first few times but sounds great

Good to hear :-). My current phone, a Samsung Convoy 3 (yeah, a flip phone) has really muddy voice quality, so HD voice is very appealing. Do you know if simultaneous voice/data requires the other caller to be using Advanced Calling, or is than only for the HD Voice feature?
