Anyone having this issue?? Every time I try to crop a picture or use their "auto edit" from just the standard run of the mill gallery, it exits out. I've restarted the phone, taken the battery out, cleared the cache, i'm at a loss and it's SO annoying. What can I do???

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the application?

Yeah, if I go into the photo gallery and look at a picture and click the little pencil to "edit" it will bring me to the edit screen but it won't let me do anything within the editor without crashing.

I know it's not optimal, but why not just switch to a different gallery tool such as QuickPic? Its built-in editor is excellent, and the gallery management allows you a lot of flexibility, including picking up images from other sources/apps on your phone. Or install the Google Photos tool, which I use just for the editor. When I choose to edit an image (browse to & viewed in QuickPic), I have 3 apps that I regularly use to edit: QuickPic, Google Photos, and Paper Artist.

Anyways, the built-in photo editor should not crash, for sure, but it's really not worth trying to fix, as there are so many good options out there.

If you don't have the new Google Photos app, consider installing that.

Thanks so much for the suggestions! It just stinks that a brand new phone already has issues like that. BLAH! I'm hoping it will situate itself, just annoying. In the meantime, I'll definitely check into the apps you suggested!! :)

Any other must have photo editing apps while we're at it??

The stock photo editor is not bad for what it is hope you figure out the problem. In the meantime, give picsart a try.

I know!! I actually really enjoyed the stock editor, I felt like it did a good job! Which is why it's so upsetting that it crapped out on me! GRRRR!!

The stock photo edit option (the little pen) from the Gallery app doesn't work for me either. It will let me edit but when I tried to hit Save, it will come back with a message saying "Unable to Save" and exit back to the picture. I tried reboot and everything but it still does not work. I think maybe it is between my camera pictures are in the SD card instead of phone's memory? But I could use the Menu button "crop" function in the Gallery app.

Hmm.... All my photos are on SD and I never had a problem. Maybe try a different card.

I will try it when I get the one from LG promo. I tried editing the pictures in my download folder on the phone (not on SD card) and it saved just fine. But every pic on the SD gave me "Unable to save changes" error when trying to save.

Update:
Okay so if I hit "Save" it gave me error message. But if I hit the "..." menu and select "Save Copy" it works and put the picture in the "Pictures" folder on the SD card. Very strange.

What happens if you use another photo editor? I'd be interested to know if other editors have issues with pics on your SD card.

I can't remember the last time I have used a stick photo editor for photos. I have Pixlr installed and it works great. In fact when I hit the pen to edit only Pixlr and Photos come up to use. I have used the 3 dot menu to crop with no problems.

OP: I had the same issue. Here's what I tried and what eventually worked.

1st Attempt: Factory reset, seemed to work briefly then issue came back again.

2nd Attempt: Factory reset, did NOT sync my google account at initial setup, after setup added google account but turned off syncing app data, then installed all my apps 'manually' from Play Store.

It's been working for a couple days now. You'll lose everything you have saved to internal storage. Might be worth the effort though YMMV.

Good luck!

I made another post about this today but the photo editor is actually Google Photos. It comes on the phone but there is a newer version on Google Play that you can install that will overwrite it. Once you do this, the errors you are getting should disappear. If you don't like Google Photos, you can uninstall it (it's not bloat) and install your favorite editor. The Gallery app on the G4 is smart and will pick up which editor you are using and launch it when pressing the edit icon.

Hope this helps.
