I swithed to t-mobile from Cricket due to threats from them to suspend me for hot spot use, they wont sell the feature on byod phones. So tmobile does allow it.

Now that I'm on t-mobile seems my phone only uses band 2 and 4, never 12. Speeds seem ok, actually better than on cricket.
I also see t-mobile has band 66 for long range lte the G5 doesn't offer.

So if you are using your Rs988 on t-mobile how is the phone working for you? Are you ok with out wi fi calling and voLte?

Interesting that your RS988 G5 does not use band 12 on Tmo.

Did you ever notice that it wouldn't use band 17 on Cricket? I've compared our G6 and G5, both on Cricket, same place and time, and the G6 will often select 17, while the G5 never does. But the specs show that it is capable of using both band 12 and band 17!

Well it did more often chooses band 17 on cricket wireless than it has picked 12 on tmo. Seems it only picks 12 if that's all that's there or if I'm in a building, band 12 is 700mhz and penitrates buildings better than others. To main issue is utms/hspa is not supported on band 12 and the G5 rs988 does not support voice over LTE. So in those situations you can't make or receive calls other than 911 which any carriers will handle.

I switched to Moto X4 and put the G5 in a drawer as a spare. The X4 supports all tmo bands but the newest band 71 in 600mhz and does voice over LTE and wifi calling.
