When you think about it like that maybe but if you think about going from 5 hours of SOT to 4 hours, it seems more plausible. That's what I usually experience.

Thats exactly how my cousin and I experienced battery extinction/exhaustion in my comment above. If I leave it on standby its hardly perceivable. But 20% SOT reduction I found to be a very noticeable amount. Hence my strong preference for removable or at least DIY replace-able batteries.

Agree on the battery size on the​ G6, should have been minimum 3600 or something like that. Now looks like getting a full day out of it will be a challenge if you are medium to heavy user.

9% increasing should amount to less than an hour of SOT and less than 4 hours of life for most users. If this thing is getting only 12 hours of life between charges that'd be LGs worst performance since the g series started. People shouldn't have to charge twice a day for most use cases, especially since the target audience is the definition of normal people.

I respect their decision. Guys, truthfully you all will upgrade to a new phone every 2 years. People don't keep their phones that long. Battery will stop holding a decent charge after many cycles, but it'll still work. The phone is more efficient now with USB C charging so it doesn't overheat the battery too much, prolonging the battery longevity. True, I would have liked a removable battery but the waterproofing feature is a must now that every other big manufacturers are doing it. I just hope the V30 won't have a sealed battery.

Upgrading doesn't preclude keeping a previous device. Occasionally, I end my JoD lease and pay off the balance to keep the device as a backup. I fully intend to do so with the V20, nevermind that most consumers don't lease their devices and keep them after the 2 year period ends. If I need my V20 18 months from now, I want to know that my battery will still be sound.

Waterproofing doesn't preclude the need for a uniform body design, as stated time & time again in this thread. It simply means the manufacturer has to be a little more circumspect in their design, but I seriously doubt that the cost of a few pieces of silicone or rubber is financially prohibitive to multi-billion dollar corporations that are constantly posting profit.

This thread had been a lot of people telling other people how to feel and what they'll inevitably do and why they should get over something that's upsetting to them. Will people who buy a G6 deal with not having a removable battery? Yeah, they'll have to, but isn't the purpose of the forum to discuss their opinions?

Just watched the Jerry Rig tear down of the G6. One thing that stood out was the battery. I read posts all the time claiming that OEMS can design bigger batteries into phones if they are not removable. Well, LG must be doing something wrong, because the G6 battery looks just like the one in my V10. Only major difference, the G6 battery has a pigtail, rather than contacts. Battery cavity looks almost identical, too. I think I'll watch teardowns of some other sealed phones, but I think some myths might be getting busted.

I'm a teacher in a public school and a dangling usb cord hanging out of my pocket is practically an invitation for my kids to pull on it, break or steal my phone, or just run off with it. unfortunately, i need my phone on me at all times because of where I teach, so leaving it out to charge is not a option, never mind that it's just bad form to give that kind of temptation. there are so many reasons why a non-removable battery is preferable.

One of my fav battery chargers, Motorola Power Pack 3000mAh Black Portable Battery Micro USB charging Build-in | eBay , I can have it in the same pocket with the phone when plugged in. ..although I guess I will need to find something new for usb-c..I'm sure someones done it.

The V10 is a physically larger phone, so lg has about the same physically sized battery of a lager phone in a smaller sized phone.

This is true, but, as I stated, it's not because of some engineering wizardry that was made possible by sealing up the phone. The space was there, and LG used it. Good for them.
If I removed the second screen, and reduced the enormous chin, which I assume is necessary for the DAC, the V10 and the G6 would be pretty similar, height-wise.

Good point, IME Li-ion batteries begin to decline around the 8 month mark. They will still work for 2 years but you are not getting the full charge after 7-8 months. With no easy way to swap it.

I'm a fan of removable but there is some truth to that. You can fit more battery in the same space if it's a sealed phone or you can design a phone to be thinner with the same size battery. It's not that big a difference though.

A removable battery is not needed. The new gen smartphones are more efficient and runs much cooler than previously. However, if you plan to keep the phone longer then 1-2 years, a removable battery will save you much more money than buying a brand new phone just because your phone stops holding a charge.

Isnt the cost to have the manufacturer replace the battery pretty reasonable? I know Samsung was charging something like $72 to do it for the S7 with no warranty.

That's my #1 concern with the G6, is: what if they use the same FPS/home button and software on the G6 as they do on the V20... and the FPS/home button stops working?

Thoughts?

I'm thinking about the G6 for my wife to replace her G4.
