G6: No laser autofocus?

Looking at the back camera, I only see the flash, no laser autofocus. So now they are going to phase detection? Can anyone comment on the camera shutter speed (anyone with the demo unit)? What do you guys think about that decision to remove it?

Yep. The G6 uses both CDAF and PDAF.

The G5 used LAF and CDAF while the V20 used CDAF, LAF and PDAF.

Haha. They're a mouthful but I'll clear them up.

CDAF - Contrast-detection autofocus
PDAF - Phase-detection autofocus
LAF - Laser-assisted autofocus

Yes, the more I see on the G6 the more I become interested in the V20.
