Galaxy 6 won't download apps from google play store

Of all else fails remove your Google accounts then redo them it worked for me

I tried everything and it didn't work for my new S7, but it turned out to be an issue with my router. I did not have the correct DNS settings. I used two of Google's public DNS and the phone was able to download apps.

I think AT&T plays games with downloads in that if I'm not connected to WIFI, only the wireless network, it won't download apps. I have an unlimited data plan. The last few times I tried downloading apps it just sat there with the no-progress progess bar. The instant I connect to WIFI, everything suddenly downloads just fine. I bet if I had a limited data plan it would work fine. May not be your issue, but it's a definite pattern on my phone.

Same with my S6, it worked fine on 4G and public servers but not my home WiFi, and rebooting my router didn't work either. I don't know anything about DNS settings or whatever but I found an app called DNSet and once I downloaded and enabled that everything started working perfectly again. It does something with VPN, whatever that is.

Will that help with this problem? I show a strong Wi-Fi connection, but Google Play, Netflix and Youtube all have problems with the Wi-Fi connection. I can still surf (websites, etc.) but Google Play gets hung up on "Downloading . . ." before getting an Error 495 Code. I've tried Apps--Clear Cache and Clear Storage for Bluetooth, Google Play Store, and Google Play Services. None of these have worked. Tried disconnecting and reconnecting Wi-Fi, tried a cache reboot (with a Samsung tech on the line). Still no help.

How do I change DNS settings? I have a Cisco Wireless Router.

For what it's worth none of the suggestions here worked. BUT. the opposite did. I have an Archer C3200 and ENABLING IPv6 as well as turning on the guest network feature did the trick for me. I rebooted my phone to be sure. This was not a problem with my Nexus 5X. Glad this is resolved now.

My Samsung S6 got to the point where I could not download any new apps in a reasonable length of time. Last night after waiting an hour on a download, I finally gave up and went to bed with the download in progress:-) and the process completed sometime within the next 5 hours. So I went to Target and talked to the local guru in th electronics department. He explained that sometimes the S6 finds a weak signal and decides that it is in a weak signal area, come hell or high water. Simply restarting the phone doesn't do any good. Here's what he did to get me back in business.
Settings -> Personal -> Backup and Reset -> Reset Network Settings ->
Power off -> Start

Of course you won't be able to do exactly the same thing, because Samsung will upgrade your operating system and the phone's entire menu heirarchy 14 times to hide the Reset Network Settings feature before you read this, but you should be able to accomplish the same feat somehow.
