While I was at work, I tested these against my Bose Soundsport Free wireless headphones, and the AKG headphones that came in the box. Long story short:
Bose Soundsport > AKG from box > Galaxy Buds
I'm not saying the Galaxy Buds are bad, per se. To be fair I'm comparing them against headphones that are very good. The problem, I think, is that the dynamic range just isn't all there. If I use bass boost, I lose the higher tones. If I use dynamic, I'm cutting out sound on both ends of the spectrum. It seems like there's a tradeoff, whereas with my Bose headphones (and to a lesser extent the ones from the box) I'm getting the full range of sounds regardless. I should add that the AKG NC60 Wireless headphones that came as a gift with the S9+ are even better than the Bose headphones, because the sound quality is equal, and you get noise cancelling.
I tried going for my afternoon treadmill run with the Galaxy Buds, and the experience was pretty good because they are small and don't loosen the way my Bose headphones do (those things are huge by comparison). My only concern in terms of running is that if I go outdoors with just my Galaxy Watch, I'll have to putz around with the watch to change the volume. Or do some weird setup where the left earbud decrements the volume and the right one increments it. Aw well, minor inconvenience at best.
My impression after a few hours of use with these is that while I wouldn't pay $130 for them, they are very, very nice as a freebie gift. Definitely more convenient than any of the other headphones I have and I would definitely use them at work or when traveling.
