Galaxy isnt acting right with texts

My galaxy started giving me new texts in a +1(areacode)(regular number) when I have the normal number with area code saved as contact. I try to reply to the +1 number and then I get a freaking error message saying the number is invalid. If the number is invalid then why are you showing my texts as that you POS phone

Do you have AT&T by chance?

I'm having the same problem and I'm on AT&T. Is there a solution?
