I also would rather get it online via a pre order. I actually enjoy getting the phone in the mail and un boxing it myself. Kind of have a ritual for it. (I know it might sound strange)
I hate watching the people at Verizon do it while they are setting up the phone. Much rather myself.

Probably not a big deal to most but, agree, it's much funner to receive it and unbox it yourself.

Doubtful. Its not really his place to announce a product that was left for Verizon to announce. Also, they always say its 'mind blowing' and its always lice streamed.

i see where it isnt his place like you said....but The Verge is a brand new website and has a lot of buzz going for it carrying over from Engadget and Engadget Show. Matias seems like he is going to be the main face of Android design going forward and I could see him having some exclusive information about something Nexus related.

Honestly Samsung probably sends out an announcement early in the day and he talks about more concrete details of the phone.. Id put money on it that the Verizon 4g version is shown on the show, probably even given away

Im just looking forward to see Josh and that gang getting back to live shows that are actually interesting and fun to watch. Hopefully if a date isnt announcement prior or during the show, Josh grills him about it and we see some hints about possible dates

So I called today..

I called verizon today to ask them about the nexus. I asked: "do you know the release day for the galaxy nexus?" and he said: "yes let me check that out for you.." as he looked through the system he kept mumbling "november hmmm november hmm let me see 18 mmm 18..." Until he said there is no official release date. I thought about this because they usually get monitored or recorded so he obviously couldn't tell me for sure because that would get him in trouble. Maybe he was trying to tell me something?

Did you really think they were going to tell you? If they would tell you simply for asking it would have been leaked all over the place by now. We'll throw the 18th in there with all of the other rumored dates. I can't imagine he would risk getting in trouble just to illegally answer a question for someone he doesn't know.

Implying that Verizon is Big Brother and hires people equal to the amount of service representatives that they have available 24/7 just to make sure the release date of a phone is kept hidden.

18th is now the new rumored date. I expect Verizon to come out and say "sup guiiise Veryzon b gettin da Galaxy Next to us, umad HSPA?" on the 16th.

It doesn't say that all calls will be recorded and listened to, but if an employees knows that they MAY be recorded and punished for breaking the rules, that's usually enough for them not to give away illegeal info to any joe shmo that calls in.

Coming from wireless we didn't know till we gad it in the store. Prior there is training on devices but as reps......nothing is known till it is on the sakes floor.
Many reasons go into it. You can ask all you want but not worth it for a Rep to lose his job over it. And when I sold wireless I truly had no idea till we got them. Believe it or not. But its true.

Im thinking Matias Duarte is going to announce its date tomorrow while doing "On The Verge"....and im thinking that is the mind blowing thing they are talking about...although im probably wrong since im not sure The Verge is even going to even be live-streaming their show

and about my post having so substance without a link?? I named a website twice as well as there tech shows name, i believe in quotes. I like giving perspectives to people about my thoughts, but im not going to hold their hands if they cant figure out The Verge is a website with their show being called "On the Verge"

just a note, this rumor is not confirmed. Also, I have heard from a reasonably reliable source that the announcement is likely coming this week, I can't confirm that 100 percent but it seems given the circumstances that this seems absolutely plausible
