Galaxy Nexus Tips And Tricks

I've been trying to figure out what to do with the videos that I take with my Nexus. I don't see an option to upload them to Google+....it does pictures though. The only way I seem to be able to get them out of my phone is to connect it to a pc and drag them out. I'm curious if anyone knows what I may be doing wrong.

Open the stock gallery and find the video and long press it (don't open it) the share button pops up and you can do what you want with it.

Does anyone know if there is a way to set the nexus to make different alert sounds for email vs. texts vs. phone?

Set the default notification in the android settings to what you want for email. Then go into your third party SMS program (GO SMS is great), and change that notification setting to what you want for texts. For phone ringtones, you assign those per contact in the contacts app.

Double tapping the address bar in the browser brings up a set of options. Sharing and copying and some others.

Is there any way to send firefox bookmarks on my comp to the stock browser?

Message sent by Hal 9000 aboard the Discovery One spacecraft heading toward Jupiter.

Export your FF bookmarks to an HTML file and copy to your phone. install BookmarksSB Pro from the market and run it: first backup your existing android bookmarks (in case something goes wrong), then delete all your existing bookmarks, then import the FF HTML file (you have to copy this file into the BookmarksSB folder on your SD card for the app to see it).

Is it a hard case or one of the soft/flimsy cases?

There are a couple of materials now being used for the cases. The softer, rubbery style are made from silicone. The new ones are harder, less rubbery and made of TPU plastic. The one we are talking about here is the TPU case

I just stumbled into this earlier today simply by experimenting.

When viewing the list of text conversations, long press on one of them. It is highlighted in blue and you are offered the ability to delete the conversation (instead of going into the conversation, then choosing the menu dots, then choosing to delete the thread).

But that's not all! Before you tap the trash can, you can tap on any other conversation you want highlighted and then tap the trash can to delete all of the highlighted conversations.

Very nice shortcut!

Is there a way to change how often gmail pulls email? Thanks.

GMail "pushes" email to your phone as soon as it arrives. Your phone does not need to poll the GMail servers in order to retrieve email.

I don't know what took me so long to realize this but when doing a Google picture image search you can swipe through your search results, rather than clicking on the numbers art the bottom.

This has probably already been answered, and I apologize (I just didn't want to sift through 14 pages of stuff), but is there a way to stop the Market from automatically adding a shortcut of a new app to your home screen when you download it?

Market > settings > uncheck add shortcut

I've got a better question, is there a way to stop getting update notifications for an app you don't want to update because the newer version totally breaks something? No? Still workin on that? Right, gotcha.

Yes, in the same menu aforementioned that sparked your "better" question.

To silence incoming call .. press the volume down button once. should work. havent really tried it. but it's pretty prevailent on android phones

This does work for an incoming call but not for texts. Any suggestions?

Two questions:

1. When alarm rings, I can snooze/dismiss. If I don't do that soon, the screen will went blank (30 sec timer), but then when I press button to get the screen, I don't see snooze/dismiss option and alarm keeps on ringing.

2. Is there any way to get miss call notification led light (without getting any app)? I get led light notification for voicemail, but not for missed call.
