Galaxy Nexus vs SGS2 with ICS

Screen size is only marginal bigger, like 0.15" larger, except for the higher res. Both are dualcore, the Nexus cpu and gpu are better, but for practical usage as of now its only for bragging rights, you won't die from having to content with the cpu in the GSII.

Bigger battery yes, but from review and XDA impressions, people been complaining its shorter lived than the GSII.

My personal impressions from the photos that has been posted is the GSII takes nicer shots by a marginal amount and to me in this case, more MP does means something.

Also it have some RF shielding problems that effects the international GSM version of the phone, causing things like volume going to silence which causes missed calls. The problem persists even in its bootloader, which means its a hardware issue.

I am actually interested in the Nexus too, but two things needs to happen before I can put my GSII on ebay: Price drop, can't pay $800 for a phone. And for Samsung to fix the RF shielding problem, which mean one would need to wait for a revision batch (I am a bit paranoid I admit so I can see how this issue can be used as privacy exploit, what with the iPhone having capability to keylog what you type if put it next to your keyboard, and Google claiming to develop feature for phones to take in all kind of environmental queues).

The volume problem has been explained and is repairabke via software.

New units are being flashed now. That's the hold up for shipments. The stock will come in next week and all orders will be filled next week (at least for Handtec)

i think i'm leaning towards a gs2 flashed w/ ics. how long does it normally take the devs to produce a workable version that's not too buggy?

To me, PPI is my #1 priority, and 720p is going to be the de facto standard for average-high end phones very soon. I can't see buying a phone today that doesn't have it. I originally bought a Sprint Epic 4G Touch (yes, I realize this phone is inferior to the OG GS2 in some ways) and couldn't stand the low PPI. Though the vanilla GS2 is slightly better in this regard, it's not good enough after using an iphone 4s for a month or so (as an interim phone prior to nexus)

Though if it weren't for that single factor, I would probably go with the SG2.

Actually, I've been seriously eying the LG Nitro HD because it sort of combines the "best of both worlds", it would seem. Though if 4.5" is too big, then that's a factor.

I disagree the Epic 4G Touch GS2 is inferior to the OG GS2. PPI maybe, but the notification light is pretty nice to have on the device.

And I agree with that PPI is the #1 priority for GN. It's one of 2 reasons moving to GN, 720p screen + ICS. Nothing more. If I just wanted ICS, i would just wait as the GS2 has a better SOC. I'm taking a hit on the processor so I don't have to wait another 4 months.

Also, sprint and their wimax bores me compared to LTE and I don't want to wait til "Fall"

Well I am on T-Mobile, and after the video posted on Youtube showing the Galaxy Nexus capable of playing high quality 720p MKV videos which my overclocked GSII can't. I initially wanted to the Galaxy Note, but its American version will simply use the same Qualcomm chip as the GSII T-Mobile. So I would have to go for the Nexus. However, paying $750 for 16GB that can hold 3 HD movies at most is pretty useless.

I guess they will release the 32gb in America, but it would probably be ATT or Verizon SIM locked. If I can't get the 32gb for a decent price, I will just stick with my GSII and wait for the next HD screen phone that is compatible with T-Mobile and fast enough for the job.
