I was excited about my new tablet so i started to set it up all that... then i realized when tablet is connected to my laptop (via usb) it says "not charging" battery has a red X on. is this normal, does anyone had the same issue?

The laptop might not provide enough current to charge your tablet adequately. Does anything else charge ok when hooked up to the laptop?

yeap it does, when i connect my galaxy note 2 (smartphone) it does charge just fine.

But the tablet still charges normally from the wall outlet? Compare the original chargers from both your tablet and phone--do they both draw the same amperage? If the phone draws significantly less amperage than the tablet, then maybe that's why it's able to charge from the laptop. But I'm not an electrical engineer, so I may be way off base here.

yea its charged when connected wall outlet, but i am using the same usb cord that i use both tablet and the phone. i wasnt sure if this was a common issue or just me?
well thanks anyways.

Note: The red X over the charge indicator does not mean it's not charging. It means it's charging at a lower rate. The tablet detects that it is connected to a computer USB port and reduces the amount of current it draws to protect the computer.

Note to all others.... USE charger that comes with table, and charge tablet to full charge before initial use.... Saves you a lot of headache....

The recommended charger is 2.1A or more.
USB 2.0 is limited to 500mA (1/2A) by design.
It is NOT the tablet side limiting current.

It may keep up with your use, but it would not charge at an acceptable rate.
Hence the red slash.

Power off the tablet and it will charge. Otherwise you need to use the high power tablet charger.
