Galaxy Note 3 - Case & Covers Thread

Re: Note 3 Case Thread.

Definitely. It feels really light in the hand just like the phone without the case. I generally feel no weight. Very comfortable to hold and grip along the sides.

Re: Note 3 Case Thread.

If you read the Samsung owners manual (first time I've opened one in forever) you'll find within the first few pages a statement from Samsung NOT to put a screen protector on the Note 3. I personally have never used one on any phone as they are quite unnecessary with Gorilla glass 1 2 and 3 anyway, look awful and ruin the experience for both viewing and S-Pen.

I have used screen protectors for years on many different phones including the Note 2, Note 3, GS3, GS4 and many, many other phones. I have yet to run into any issues with them causing problems with S-Pen or causing the screen to be distorted. I will say don't buy the 3M film based ones like Zagg's Invisible Shield, Skinomi or others like them. The reason is the S-Pen will press into the film and those WILL look terrible.

What I have used and continue to use are the Spigen Crystal Clear Protectors and of course the Tempered Glass ones I have right now.

Re: Note 3 Case Thread.

So far there's been a few people reporting their Spigen Neo's chipping. Anyone who owns the Slim Armor having this happen as well?

I wonder how the Spigen Bounce case is? Seems like a good middle ground between the other two, for some protection while still being slim and possibly not as slippery as some have been reporting the Neo is.

I haven't seen any chipping on the Slim Armor, but around the edges where it meets the touch screen of the N3, I've noticed that there are some dull and shiny spots, as if it's where the plastic was separated from another piece of the molding. No big deal for me as I'd rather have the attention to detail as to how it accommodates the phone itself and not really on some minor detail, and I must say the phone fits quite snugly inside the case.

Re: Note 3 Case Thread.

Just got this one in... and I can say I'm very pleased with the fit and feel (got the slate blue one)... it's a bit more @ $20 than I normally go. But I must say I've been happy with things Spigen. For a total of $26 and some change.. I got the screen protectors (from Spigen too) on this order too. Very nice... folks... when the other cases come in I'll post my impressions of those too.

Update: Order from Amazon, btw.

Re: Note 3 Case Thread.

Just got in my Neo Hybrid with Tempered Glass screen protector. And I've never been happier with a purchase of mobile phone accessories. The case makes the phone feel more premium then it should, and the screen protector is by far the easiest one I've ever had to apply. (with the case on first lining up the glass is a breeze)

Also, since it's a piece of glass, it doesn't stretch. And it has a better feel than most. Also it doest phase the colors or look of the display at all. I can say that the matte screen protectors from zagg I was using definitely had a negative. Effect on pictures and the display. Get this case people!

Front and back Pics...

So the question- Does the phone back that came with the phone (the black plastic thing to the right of the phone in the pics) fit with the case on? Well I tried both ways... I found that this case seems to fit better without the phone plastic back on. The two mis-fitting points about leaving the black plastic back on are:

The case is hard to get on and off... maybe because it's new? Anyway, it's really tight.
The front fit around the screen bezel and the case inner edge seems to leave the slightest gap and has "wobbliness"- again like the case is a bit of a tight fit. You can wiggle the case edge into place, but it seems a bit off to me.

So bottom line, leaving the phone plastic back on can work, but it does leave you feeling that the case becomes a tight fit.

Is there any reason to leave the plastic back on? I don't really see one... the case appears to be stiff enough... but we shall see. I am curious to see how well the blue slate color will wear over time.

Any pics you can share?

Sorry for the delay. I noticed this today. Here are the pics.

Sides are a textured finish and the back is a smoke plastic which doesn't attract finger prints. Slight rubber trim on the front. Very pleased with case so far.....

If you look closely, you'll see that there's no hole for the mic by the headphone jack. I have the white one and I'm just using it until something better comes along.

Never occurred to me to take the original back off. I think I'll probably leave mine on as it probably provides a better seal for the inside of the phone.

Yeah, I could see that.... But I do worry a bit about it being too tight and pressing on the guts. I figure I will go awhile without the back on and see if any crud gathers on the inside. I already know not to get near water with this (as I water destroyed a GN2 already :)).

its a tight fit, but not tight enough to compress the phone and do damage. that would be more like a vice grip or something.

Re: Note 3 Case Thread.

I stopped using the Spigen Neo Hybrid recently and started using the Spigen Bounce. The Neo Hybrid is a beautiful vase but the coloured hard frame started to get chipped along the edges.

I don't have this problem with the Spigen Bounce because it's all a rubbery material. Also because the Bounce is not a rigid case it can fit the shape of the phone better and is nicer to hold.
