Sorry, this is for my Note 2, but that forum is a little dead now & some of you have good experience 
When I run Google Navigation or Maps updated or not Searching for GPS hangs. If I turn GPS off then on again it starts working immediately. When I exit Maps/Navigation & go back in I have to do the same thing to get it to work 
I have all 3 location services on, Energy saving off 
FIXED: It was Zillow ..... has always worked great before .... Force stopped Zillow & GPS always works! Actually was the Widget
