Galaxy Note 3 Verizon: Lollipop Update

Re: Lollipop is here...according to Verizon

Browsing through the support page PDFs, looks like our opportunity to force the update may be a month away ... "User Initiated – WiFi Exclusive 5/13-5/16". They'll push it to devices whenever they push it and who knows when that will be. At least we're finally seeing something on it from Big Red.

I just did a manual check and got prompted that a software update is available. 20% downloaded as of now.

I'm downloading and installing the second half now.

Re: Lollipop is here...according to Verizon

Looks like it comes in the form of two separate updates. One down, one to go.

Am downloading it first install down, and second one is taken longer to download tho.

Re: Lollipop is here...according to Verizon

Sure been on this VZ splash screen for a while following the 5.0 install and reboot ... and now optimizing apps. Whew.

Re: Lollipop is here...according to Verizon

Yeah, the install took forever. Google Play Services will have to update after the reboot.

Phone seems a little snappier. Not sure how I feel about the constant drop down notifications, and there doesn't seem to be a way to turn it off.

Animations are nice. Don't like the white background on the menu. The drop down notification panel changed too.

It's going to take some getting use to. I dislike the god awful folders that your apps are now in on the home screen.

It honestly kinda looks god awful in my opinion. Like I don't know just something about the look that is displeasing. But maybe a person will warm up to it.

If you have issues clear cache. If that doesnt work then do a factory reset. Also prepare for a million people who refuse to do a factory reset to complain about bugs and issues.

Re: Lollipop is here...according to Verizon

Co-worker got surprised when she got up to find her phone had updated to lollipop. It deleted a number of her apps, put her phone into vibrate mode even when she has it set to not disturb her that so far she has not been able to fix and a few other things that she is not happy with including some of the things that were mentioned about the looks of it.

I did tell her about the bad things I've been reading about it and about clearing your cache and doing a factory reset. I don't know what she's going to do at this point.

I've had pretty good luck with upgrades all these years but this one has me scared. I think I'll go do a backup right now.
