Galaxy Note 5 ROOT?

What are the benefits of rooting your note 5? And what are the cons? Coming from blackberry this is all new to me. Who has there note 5 rooted and how?

Honestly with the introduction of package disabler... No need unless you want custom roms... Or if att variant and unlimited data the tether feature... But root isn't available for att

I've rooted every single phone I've had over the last 8 years or so......but with the increase of options for the 5 I don't see the need. Themes are available, most bloatware can either be removed or disabled now, and speed isn't an issue anymore. Plus don't have to worry about having bootloops, bricks (soft or hard), roms that work, or the extra apps you will need for root (twrp, TB, etc). Rooted my Note Edge but took it off after just a couple of weeks and haven't even considered it with my 5.

It always boggles my mind when people say root isn't needed.
Perhaps that's due to what features an individual uses.

For me, I'd love to have root for titanium backup and for being able to have all apps in multi window.
I am aware of the helium app for backups but helium can't backup all apps, and nothing other than root can put all apps in multi window.

I guess each person has to weigh what is important to them when it comes to root or not. I used to root every device I got that could be rooted. I'd flash multiple kernels and ROMs and forever tinker. I used Titanium backup as well and often found it invaluable due to the screw ups a new flash would bring.

That being said it would be nice to use any app in multi-window but that's not enough to get me to root.

With the Note 5 I told myself I'd run stock for a while and see how it goes. That was mid September and I have not missed all that root fun yet, and I'm loving Samsung Pay.

We tinker so much. Just use the phone as it was designed. It's customizable enough.

I agree that it depends on what matters to the individual. Rooting and installing custom ROMs aren't the same.
I would love to have root but do not need a custom ROM.
I never had issues restoring apps with titanium backup when I changed ROMs. Most who did have issues were restoring system apps and data, I only restored user apps.
I also miss busybox and a terminal emulator. I liked running Unix scripts on my phone.

I don't plan to root my Note 5, mostly because it has the 4 main features I already want from it:

1. Tethering (unlimited with T-Mobile)
2. Snappy performance
3. Ability to change the TouchWiz look (thank goodness for themes)
4. Disabling apps

As others, I've rooted every phone I've owned. The Note 5 is the 1st phone I haven't rooted in a long time.

As long as you understand the pros/cons of rooting, you should be fine. Not having a warranty on a Note 5 (which voids when you root) sucks, specially if you're paying for it monthly--unless you pay like a 10 dollar a month protection plan.
