Galaxy Note 8.0 - Bluetooth keyboard connected but not working

I got a Bluetooth keyboard and it connects and the note sees it and have enabled the Samsung keyboard but when I open something to type in the Bluetooth keyboard does not input only the pop-up keyboard. I am rooted and used keyboard helper and even renamed the default keyboard in the system files. Still not working. Do not know if this is a possible issue with this keyboard or something I am missing with the note 8 settings. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked your keyboard settings....

It doesn't have any settings. It just says paired. I ordered a different keyboard and I'll see how that does after it comes in.
