Galaxy Note 8.0 for Sale in US April 11 for $399

I will be passing. $400 seems ludicrous to me. I own a note 2, so anything over the $250-$300 range for that tablet seems to high for me. I just bought a Windows RT tablet for my 10 inch tablet. Now I am going to wait to compare the 7 inch rt tablet and the new Nexus 7 to decide what to buy for a 7 inch tablet. Samsung is no longer an option.

Ill be getting one. Just waiting for staples and or newegg to update their pages. Hoping to have on by weeks end. Already got my nexus 7 up on swappa.

Mmm, I'm glad I went with the Nexus 7 instead of waiting. I still like everything I've read about the Note 8 though so I imagine it will still find success at that price point.

I would pay $400 for 32gig only if I absolutely had too. 16g internal is a definite no go at that price. I picked up a 16g ipad mini for wife for $330. Who does Samsung think they are? I love my 10.1 but I won't pay over $350 and then only in 32gig. Which sucks because I need a 7-8" for portablility at work. I think Samsung may be letting their Android dominance go to their heads.

Unlike the ipad there is expandable storage. Just get a 32gb sd and your good to go. The specs alone on this is good enough reason to buy.

A good 32gb class 10 sd is around $30. Now you have $430 invested. 16gb 10.1 is same price at some online retailers on sale. What would most people do? 10.1 and hold off on sd card if necessary. They will sale a lot, I have no doubt, but its not priced to move. Same with 32gb version when it comes out. (Assuming $450) People will buy 16gb 10.1 unless they just absolutely need 8.0 for some reason. There is a price point for mini tabs and Samsung is definitely on the upper limit of what people will pay.

I think with price like this most people will go for iPad mini. But then again, Samsung never really made big splash in tablet space, thanks in part to their pricing scheme.

at $400 this is not going to sell well, and I'm sure Samsung is going to realize this and drop the price. It's competing against the Nexus 7 and Ipad Mini, both of which are cheaper and really good tablets. New reviews are also knocking Samsung for it's plastic love. $350 is more reasonable and competitive price. I'm going to wait for it to drop to $350.

hopefully this goes on sale at midnight.

give us a personal review when you get this.

Yea I agree $400 is a little steep for this....Pity, because while I love everything about my N7, except I would really have liked it with a little larger display.....The 8 inch tablet would be the sweet spot for me. I also have an iPad 3 and while I do like it, I find it a bit bulky and heavy.....I'm going to wait for the next generation of the Nexus, and rumor is that they might hit that 8 inch sweet spot. Either that or check out the Kindle HD 8.9

i went to both bestbuy and staples today to see if they had any. bestbuy has no info but staples got 5 of them in stock today. the manager said they will go on sale at 8am tomorrow. i may get it, the only concern for me is there is no root or recovery for it yet.

right but the note 8.0 has much better specs than the nexus 7 and the ipad mini.

I'm like you. I think the 8" is the sweetspot. I need a tablet that I can still fit in my white coat pocket . I have the Kindle HD 8.9 too, it's too big for my white coat pocket.

Not for long...new versions of nexus 7 and ipad mini coming very soon :) And they'll probably be cheaper than $400.

As another one of those guys who has tried a handful of Android tablets over the years and loves his iPad, I have been looking for a smaller tablet that ticked all the boxes. It seemed like every 7 inch tablet ALMOST got there but each was missing some little thing that made it incomplete.

When I saw this one, it seemingly ticked every box for me. Screen res may be a little lacking, but it's a smaller screen, so it is still relatively good.

Then I saw the price. At first I wasn't too alarmed. I paid more than that for iPad and almost that much for a Note 2. Then I heard others grumble about price and I started to wonder if maybe it wasn't a little too pricey. Then I went back and looked at the specs, S-Pen, expandable memory, USB Host/OTG ability, decent cameras front and back, etc... and I thought it was worth maybe a $100 premium over other tabs for not skimping on features. $150-200 more though? I think it might be worth it to not sit there wishing my tablet had some elusive feature. Only thing I'd really like to see is Stock Android, and that can be had soon enough.

I am going in for one. I'm comfortable paying for getting the Wacom digitizer and spen. That is functionality that I consider a requirement. If you want a tablet with the best specs than it isn't the best option, but if you want the handwriting capabilities, then I think it is the only real option.

How do you find the performance of the Kindle HD 8.9? Do you find the forked version of Android restrictive at all? It sounds like it may be a tablet that fits my needs as I use my tablet now mostly for media consumption, surfing the web, listening to internet radio, music, and podcasts.

The price is ludicrous! 399 is like a banner on the ad ''get ipad mini''. And whatever happened to this budget tablet they what i thought its going to be a part of Samsung. I mean galaxy tab 2 wasn't bad.. I mean there are people that actually paid 50 bucks more and got tab 2 instead of Nexus 7. Because it actually offered for some people much more than nexus 7 or Kindle. My brother for example went with tab 2 instead of n7 just because it had sd card and DLNA. He's pretty fine with it although he kinda complained about jelly bean update. So whatever happened to this $249 price.

I am sure the digitizer had quite a bit to do with the price.
