As the name says.. IM A NOOB

I'm looking to buy my first tablet and I fell in love with the Samsung 7.7, just everything about it looks/feels amazing. Then I found out about the new Note 8.0, well when too Best Buy and played with it a little bit and I HATE the UI. but on paper the Note 8.0 seems so much better ( Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 vs Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 vs Apple iPad mini - Phone specs comparison ).

So my question is can I get the Note 8.0 and root it to have the UI as the 7.7?

I know some what about rooting and flashing different ROMs on devices, but is the 7.7 available to flash too the 8.0?

Thanks in advanced.

Don't think you can do this yet (if ever), but what specifically do you not like about the interface? Coming from a Tab 7 Plus, I personally would prefer a more tablet centric notifications bar. I like how the 7 Plus tablet's notifications screen scrolls up from the bottom and does not cover the entire screen. However, I can see that the Note 8 has limitations in this respect because Samsung chose to provide the fixed phone-like home and capacitive menu/return buttons on the bezel rather than soft buttons on the display like most of their last generation tabs (which allows the buttons to rotate to the bottom of the screen regardless of whether you are in portrait or landscape). Since the buttons are fixed to the bezel, this creates a built-in, fixed interface difference compared to previous Galaxy tabs that would be difficult to address with just software. However, I am getting used to it and really like the S Pen functionality and multi-screen apps which you would lose if you just ported the 7.7 interface directly. That coupled with the performance snappiness afforded by the superior hardware specs are slowly winning me over.

Use a third party launcher. I recommend Action Launcher. You have to pay for it but it's an awesome product and the dev is a really great guy.

Honestly.. I'm just picky.. lol I just like the color scheme and how the navigation of the menus a little bit better. And with the Note idk if I would really use S-Pen all that much. I don't really remember the soft buttons on the Note 8; I've played more with the 7.7 then Note 8.0.

ahh ok, I've got something similar on my Droid 4. GO Luncher

You could also give either the Apex or Nova launchers a try. They give you a pretty good stock android experience.

I looked at those too^^ and the I realized I can get a Honeycomb launcher has my basics. Since that is what the 7.7 is running on
