Galaxy Note Notifications Volume

On My Note I use AT&T messages for my voice mail and text messages. I cannot adjust the volume for the notification tone when I receive a text message. It is very loud but when I go to the phone's setting the volume for notifications are are set to the lowest as possible. In the AT&T messages menu there is no place to control volume. Anyone experienced this or know a fix? Thanks.

I use slider widget to control mine. Works well.
