Question media and ring volumes greyed out

Hi, Moto e6 plus. Android 9. In Settings/Sound, media volume and ring volume are greyed out. If somebody rings me, there is no ring tone, nor does it come up on phone, so can't answer. I can ring someone, and have a conversation. Youtube videos are silent, unless I use headphones. Also greyed out in Safe Mode. Have tried rebooting also. No audio or visual notifications for WhatsApp or text messages. If I change call volume or alarm volume in settings, the sound works without headphones.

Not aware of having done anything out of the ordinary before this happened, working fine before. Would much appreciate any advice.

I keep an E6 Plus with me for a second number.
(UK/ European specific model afaik, and strangely different UI to a different US Moto E6 model)

I never use Do Not Disturb, but that would answer why you don't get visual notifications.
If not that I'll look at other possibilities later, but may not come up with anything. (I always keep it on Silent, with Vibrate On, as it has a great vibration motor.

No. Never mind.
Do Not Disturb does not grey out volume sliders.
Another non - genius idea from yours truly.
I'll look at it further.

Good! For some reason, for a minute there, I considered maybe I wasn't the genius I always thought I was when turning on DND didn't grey out the sliders.

I found on Android Stack Exchange most people found DND Off solved the problem.

Just to add, before I'm put back in my padded cell, I see you posted screenshots also and your horizontal sliders do become greyed out. I was thinking of the vertical button sliders on the side, but either way my *sliders* don't* grey out with DND On.

Weird.

*CORRECTED : Yes they do if I turn Alarms and Media Off in the DND exceptions list. Very complicated for an ageing Irishman!
