Someone mentioned a tip in another thread highligting a way to adjust the brightness level using the status bar.

I thought it might be nice to start a thread to share some other tips about this phone that others may not be aware of.

One tip I found today in a business meeting is that while taking notes in S Memo, I can arrange the order of the notes, stack notes on top of each other, and then upload those handwritten notes to either Google Docs or Evernote. This was too cool for me to find out because I use to bring my Tab 7.0 plus to meetings and type my meeting notes and action items into the Evernote app all the time, but now using only my phone and S Memo I can actually take handwritten notes and store them in the cloud with my other notes seemlesly. This phone is amazing!

Are ther any other tips anyone has discovered?

Try this:

Hand write an appointment using the S-Pen app (e.g., Dinner with my wife at 6pm). Select menu and click more. Then select the calendar option and the G-Note will recognize your handwritten note and save the appointment to your calendar. Incredible!!

Tried it - works great!

Discovered this one today:

Hold a finger anywhere on the screen while writing with the S-Pen, and the screen will lock so that only the input of the S-Pen is recognized.

Until now I had been holding my hand in a somewhat awkward position trying not to touch the screen, but actually if you just put one finger of your non writing hand on the screen you'll have no problems and can write more naturally.

Really nice to know! I use the pen a lot. I had it zap a perfect straight line once from where I was writing to where the edge of my hand was on the screen. I haven't been able to duplicate it. Are there any tips for special drawing features that might not be evident?

Do a google search for Samsung Galaxy Note user manual The first hit is from Samsung, and it will DL the manual.

I love to hear good tips, but I want more than what the manual already tells me,.

I found this today by accident while looking for something else.

I use the Samsung flip cover case on my Galaxy Note.

There is an app in the market (oops! I mean Google Play) titled Smart Cover. It does what the smart cover on the iPad does in that it turns the screen off when you close the flip cover, and wakes the phone up when you open it up.

I thought it was pretty neat so I downloaded it today. My experience is that it works really well. The app uses the proximity sensor on the front of the phone so naturally you have to have a flip cover in order for it to work. If interested, check it out.

Makes all the difference when writing with the Spen. Many thanks.

Pretty amazing things here..

Does anyone mind if I ask the 'seasoned' Note users that are guys here whether they find the Note too big to carry around in your pocket and if they use a Bluetooth headset when talking on it instead of raising the Note to your ear?

I'm on the fence as to which direction to go: Skyrocket or Note or wait for the GS2 HD, GS3 or HTC OneX.

And do all you folks feel you couldn't go back to a phone the size of a GS2 or something similar?

Thanks.

I had a Samsung Captivate prior. I tried going back for a period of time. It was painful for me. Just way to small after getting use to the screen realestate.

I have no problem putting it to my ear. Frankly I could care less if someone else felt it was to big. The size doesn't bother me, and the phone sounds good. The noise cancelation features of the GS2 line are great too and the not is no exception.

I don't notice it at all in my pocket, or any more then I did my old captivate at times. I don't wear tight cloths though.

On another note you may not want to post the same question in several different threads. That can bother some people and start to get a negative response after a while. Espcially in a thread that it is completly off topic.

Totally stupid beginner question here...what is the S-Pen app? S-memo?

Nevermind...I got it...right after I posted this...figures
