Galaxy S10e vs. iPhone XR main camera comparison

Very comparable I would say. I remember when iPhone was severely muted and washed out, Samsung extremely punchy and vivid. Now it seems like Samsung has dialed it back a bit, while Apple dialed it up, and they seem very similar. At this point, cameras on flagships are all pretty good and I don't think you can be disappointed with either. I have to admit though, cameras have never been my thing, as I might take one picture a week I would guess.

Has anyone seen any information out there if the 10e has anything similar to Google Night Sight?

from what I've seen all the major players are on par. some are slightly better in some areas but all about the same.
except Googles night site. that is the only outstanding feature.

Google camera is in a league of it's own right now imo. I put Pixel 3 as the best camera and then everything else just vying there for second place.

The issue though, for me, is video recording on the Pixel 3 which isn't very good. Nothing tops iPhone for that and I take more video than still photography at the moment.

You just said the you “put Pixel 3 as the best camera” then in your 2nd paragraph you you say “video recording on the Pixel 3 which isn’t very good. Nothing tops iPhone for that......”. :-p

I read Vega's comment as the Pixel 3 has the best camera for stills but the iPhone has better video recording, which has been the case for a while.

Yeah, I really think there has become a separation in cameras when it comes to still photography vs video. I think that is pretty clear when you see the "camera showdown" features that many sites like to have, but never talk about how good the video performance is. They are mutually exclusive basically.

Yes exactly. Pixel's have had some really funky video recording issues...issues they haven't had to worry about when it comes to still photography. Thank you.

Yup, I know, just stirring the pot some, however, a camera is a camera is a camera and if a camera does both stills and video, then the saying the “best” camera, without qualification(s), has to be in consideration of both stills and video :-p

Now, what makes a camera (I’ll bite, for stills), the best ? :)

For me, its all about how the software processes the shot, hence why I really like the Pixel as my favorite. What Google does is what Apple thinks they do - it's magical!

In my opinion the S10e takes the better pictures, especially in low light (because Apple sucks at low light for some reason). Colours are less saturated than before but are still more vivid than the iPhone. And you get an additional wide angle lens, so it’s more versatile as well
